Today I had an incredibly disappointing experience at Brisket House on Cypress Creek Pkwy in Houston, TX. From the moment I called to place my takeout order, it was clear that this establishment did not prioritize customer service.
When I called, the person who answered the phone seemed like a young guy, possibly a teenager, and he was far from friendly. I had a few questions about the meal I wanted to order for my husband and me. I specifically asked if the 3 meat plate with 2 sides would be sufficient for two people, and he assured me that it would be. I emphasized that it needed to be enough for both of us, and he mentioned that it came with a whole pickle, some bread, and extra BBQ sauce. I also added 2 brownies to my order.
The exterior of the restaurant looked large and inviting, but upon entering, I was surprised to find it completely empty, except for one family near the exit. I found it odd that a BBQ joint would be so deserted on a Sunday when most restaurants are usually bustling with families and friends. There was one man standing at the counter having a conversation with the teenage boy, who I assumed was another employee. Unfortunately, the three employees behind the counter paid no attention to me and continued their conversation without even acknowledging my presence. The teenage worker didn't bother to greet me and simply grabbed a bag and said my order was ready. I suspect I was the only person who had called in an order.
To my dismay, the total at the counter came to $29.00, which shocked me as I had only ordered a 3 meat plate. I questioned the price, and the employee simply replied, "Yeah, it's $29." I recalled his earlier assurance that it would be enough for two people. Disappointed but still hoping for a decent meal, I paid and left.
Upon arriving home and opening the bag, I was appalled by the meager portions. The food was incredibly small, nowhere near enough to satisfy two people. There were only two small ribs with barely any meat on the bones, two tiny cuts of brisket measuring about 3 to 4 inches in length, and a minuscule, dried-out lump of pulled pork. The sides were equally disappointing, with about three tablespoons of potato salad and an amount of fries smaller than what you'd find in a child's meal at McDonald's. To top it off, there were only two pickle chips and a single soggy piece of white sliced bread.
Naturally, my husband was as shocked and angry as I was at the complete rip-off we had experienced. I immediately called the restaurant back, hoping for a refund, but unfortunately, I reached the same teenage boy who took my initial order. To my disbelief, he rudely hung up on me. I attempted to call multiple times afterward, only to have the call answered and abruptly disconnected.
I strongly advise against eating at Brisket House on Cypress Creek Pkwy. This was by far one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. The lack of customer service, misleading information, exorbitant prices, and the ridiculously small portion sizes left us utterly dissatisfied. Save your time, money, and taste buds, and choose a different BBQ...
Read moreHey Howdy Hey!!! Are you looking for some great tasting BBQ today??? If so, then you must visit The Brisket House! When my son told me that he was coming home on leave from the Navy and that he wanted some good 'ol Texas Down-South, Mouth-Watering, Lip-Smacking, Finger-Licking BBQ, I instantly thought of this place because it is all that and more!
This is my second visit to this establishment and I must say that I find it quite surprising that this place is not jumping with loads of customers whenever I visit. The BBQ here is full of delicious, savor-able, flavorful, and delectable goodness!!! My family and I truly enjoyed ourselves as we celebrated my son's return home while conversing, laughing, and getting fat-full of their appetizing and tantalizing BBQ.
The brisket was tender, moist, and juicy. My son ordered the chopped beef sandwich combo with fries and it was loaded with chopped beef. They were very generous with it. The BBQ chicken, pulled pork, loaded baked potato, BBQ wings, and fried catfish were all equally delicious! This place does not miss a beat. The cornbread was huge and sweet like a piece of cake and the sides were splendid as well. The collard greens are full of flavor, the fried okra tastes like fresh okra and not frozen and is fried to perfection, the Mac and cheese is cheesy deliciousness done just right not watery and loose but a semi-thick cheesy sauce, the BBQ beans were flavorful but a little on the cold side, and the fries are seasoned well, not too salty but just right. So the only complaint from one of my family members is that her beans were served cold instead of hot and my daughter complained that her BBQ chicken was served cold as well. Other than those two small fumbles, everything was perfect! Oh and their BBQ sauce is absolutely delicious! However, I have to take away one star and give them a four-star rating, because it's absolutely imperative that cooked foods are served at the correct temperatures to keep customers from getting sick.
Service was great! Our main server was Raya and she was amazing. Her personality was cheerful, friendly, and welcoming! She took care of all of our needs and brought our food out to us with help from some of the other staff members. We were seated in their private party room area which was extremely spacious and clean! I highly recommend this establishment to anyone who is looking for some good 'ol Down-South Texas BBQ! You will not be disappointed! The prices are reasonable and they have a variety of food combinations and selections ranging from their 1-meat, 2-meat, and 3-meat plates, bbq sandwich combos, kids meals, tailgate packages, desserts, sides, and more! Parking is plentiful and is located in the back of...
Read moreI was in the city for a much needed MD appointment. This place came highly recommended by someone. I was informed that I wouldn't be disappointed if I stopped by.
I must say the menu is creatively constructed. The meal names are unique and pique your interest. Five stars for their marketing agents.
As I entered the restaurant, the design was super weird, and it was hard to discover where to order. Once I figured that out, the menu is located on a wall opposite the register, which would cause difficulty recalling your order if there's a crowd. Although a crowd seemed least likely seeing as I arrived during the height of lunchtimeand the establishment was completely empty.
As usual, when ordering from a new restaurant, I asked staff what they loved to eat there. Most of them didn't eat there, which is cause for alarm in my book. One person said he only ate the turkey.
Despite the few read flags, I ordered the PBJ sandwich with fries extra crispy. The PBJ sandwich is pulled pork, brisket, and jalapeño sausage on a bun topped with coleslaw. You can get request pickles, onions, and jalapeños on the side.
Now on to the taste. The PBJ was without flavor. There was no BBQ taste, I couldn't taste any seasoning or salt. Salt is almost always present in most purchased meals, especially BBQ. The coleslaw could've toned down the jalapeño sausage had it actually been spicy, but it wasn't. The brisket and pulled pork were dry and tasted old. They crumbled in my mouth like meat shavings.
The cost versus other BBQ restaurants isn't comparable. I wouldn't choose this restaurant over any others that I have tried.
My rating went up due to the remarkable menu. The menus and food names are the most exciting things about this restaurant. Condos to the individual who constructed the menu. Yet, still, I'd say pass...
