The food here isn't too bad, but the time it takes from ordering until you get your food can be a little long. I walked down to order while I was at work and she told me it would be 10 to 15 minutes so I walked back down to the store I was working at and watched the clock...at 15 minutes I was about to walk back the the restaurant and a customer walked in and I helped him, it took about 5 minutes and then I walked back over to get my food, at this point it was at about the 20 minute mark since I had ordered. They told me it wasn't ready yet and would be about 5 more minutes. I sat there for almost 10 minutes more and they still hadn't told me my order was ready so I checked with the front person again. She asked me to let her check and was in the back for about 5 minutes and finally brought my food out. I took it and walked back to the store I worked at and sat down to eat. I had asked for fresh onions instead of the cooked onions they normally added and I saw her write down fresh onions, they put cooked onions on my food. I was really hungry by this time so I just pulled the onions off and ate my food. The Asada tasted amazing and the rice was really good too, but the beans were not my favorite, they tasted like maybe the had vegetable juice or something in them and it was very strong! Good beans are make or break for me 😥 If their beans had been better and I hadn't had to wait 20 minutes or so more than what she had originally told me I may have given a higher rating but the other 2 times I went there after we're not any better so they are pretty stuck at the current rating I have given...Also their food can be a touch on the too salty side, especially the chicken they use in the chimichangas ( Asada was still great though). I wouldn't say that I would tell people to stay away from El Charro, but I would warn that you may be in for a good wait before you...
Read moreFood is ok, but you can’t scam and take advantage of customers by charging them an arm and a leg for a tiny piece of meat (carne asada), that is enough for a toddler and give you mostly sides that are worth $2. You order a med. size cup of horchata, and there are no refills, but have to pay to have some more. When we came back once more, the portion got even smaller as far as the meat goes. The owners are greedy and ungrateful, but prices remain high.
On a plate to go, I was served with rancid tortillas to go with dish. They even charge you $5 for a tiny bit of salsa to go.
In general, for two people in other restaurants, and leave full and satisfied, you pay $35. But here, $60, and the portions are just horrible, so small, and you leave hungry from restaurant (El Charro). They have...
Read moreMy first time ever at El Charro since I'm new to Arkansas. The restaurant is a quaint, little restaurant in a strip mall location, and seems to be ran by a family. Jasmine at the counter was welcoming, friendly, and she was also my server.
She suggested the Quesabirrias, which I have never heard of before at any Mexican restaurants. If you can ignore the fact that the dish was fried, it was surprisingly tasteful and full of flavor. It came with a consomme for dipping which gave it a subtle spice and added flavor. All in all, I enjoyed the meal and will definitely come back.
I RECOMMEND this restaurant to anyone in the NW...
