Mariscos Playa Azul — Restaurant in Springdale

I have been here before (over a year ago) and it was way better. My total after tip was 75.00 and the only reason I left a tip was because the server was awesome, I didn't feel she should have to suffer for the way the food tasted. It was extremely bland, I ordered the Carne Asada Tacos. The meat was cooked to perfection but there was no flavor to it, my son ordered chicken nuggets and he said they were really crunchy but they looked soggy, the drinks were flat and the prices were way too high. The best part of the meal was the queso blanco but not even it could give the meat enough flavor to suffice (I also added sour cream and guacamole). My husband ordered an asada chimichanga and they put asada and fish in it (he did not ask for fish,gross) and my daughter ordered a shrimp chimichanga which I was told would be one price and they charged me more than they said. Her chimichanga had shrimp but also had some other kind of sea food in it which didn't mesh well because you could tell it was there and the flavors were not similar. Stopped for a late lunch on a Friday afternoon, not crowded and service was good. Wife had fish tacos, I had seafood fajitas and both were very good, seafood was nicely prepared, good flavor, tasted fresh. The sides (chips, salsa, beans, rice) were typical and very similar to what you would be served at any Mexican restaurant.

Some reviews complain about the price, but seafood generally is more expensive than beef or chicken. Some reviews complained about noise, and I can imagine that if the restaurant were crowded it could be a bit noisy, as the room has a high ceiling and hard walls that would likely reflect noise. Music was playing and there are a several TVs located around the dining area.

There are many choices in this area when it comes to Mexican cuisine, but I would not hesitate to return...

I was recommended to try the food here but I’m very upset by how the staff treated me. I called to place an order & the lady that answered the phone was very rude and told me to check the menu online instead because she was apparently too busy to answer and or place my order in. I definitely didn’t feel welcomed or treated with respect. She started questioning where my call was being placed.
