We came on a Thursday, there were 6 of us in my family. When we got there we discovered that Thursday means they only have breakfast on the bar. I wasn't very happy about it but my family said they still wanted it. I ordered a double cheesburger and onion rings from the menu and got the salad bar by itself. (Which it turns out is only 2 dollars less than the whole bar). The salad bar was not bad. I enjoyed it, my family was very unhappy with the selection on the breakfast bar however. They basically had pancakes, eggs ,sausage, bacon, biscuits and gravy. There was a pan where chicken should have been but they didn't put any more out until we were leaving. All that sounds good until my girlfriend and our kids started saying how bad certain things tasted. My girlfriend was very disappointed and decided ahe and our oldest son would order a Turkey sandwich to share but she was told they were out of the bread for that. She asked about other bread options and was given only wheat bread as an option. They declined as neither of them cared for wheat bread very much. It took a good while for my burger and onion rings to come but when it did it was enormous (which i'm not complaining about) but there were literally only 5 onion rings on the plate, and they were not very big ones either. I took my first bite of burger and realized it was the driest hamburger I'd ever tasted. I ate half and dissapointedly gave our oldest son the other half. I hadn't commented on my food at all and our oldest son came to the same conclusion. My girlfriend decided to order dessert since they didn't have any on the bar and she ordered a hot fudge cake which she shared with all 4 of our kids. They all liked it. It was a pretty large helping. The waiter must've been able to tell we were not crazy about the food even though we weren't open about it to him because he gave us one of the buffets for free for our youngest daughter and did not charge for the hot fudge cake. He was a good waiter and very attentive the whole time. I appreciated him and He is the only reason i'm giving 2 stars at all. I grew up eating shoneys and loving it a lot but i'm very disappointed in what it has become. I don't know if I'll go back to this shoneys or not...
Read moreCame on a Tuesday morning around 10:00 a.m. This may have been my 3rd time eating Shoney's in my life. The other times were yearsss ago as a chap. I was craving some breakfast, but felt like I wanted a good variety to choose from. Before I even had a chance to order drinks or get to the buffet, a roach briskly ran across my table. 😭😭😭😭 I then watched it reach across the space between the table to the wall, and crawled up the wall and it sat there peeping the scene for a few minutes. I moved the table further from the wall and checked underneath and around....for more. Thankfully, there was none I could see. I watched it as it watched me. It came back down the wall, appearing as if it wanted to get back on my table. It didn't succeed. 🙌🏾 I truly honestly 100% wanted to leave so bad!! But unfortunately, I did not feel like dealing with a headache trying to bring it to someone's attention. By the way, my table was right next to the window, right next to the buffet. In my experience, service people in general, don't like complaints and if you have to complain, you may as well be the bad guy. I've learned to not complain to these restaurants around here, which is truly sad. Just to learn from my experience. I am sure this restaurant knows they have roaches. I cannot be the first and only person to ever see one there. This little guy was comfortable okay!! Felt like I was encroaching on his territory. The way it looked like he stretched that body to climb across the space from the table to wall with no effort. Like he does that on a regular. Employees of all people, have got to know that there are roaches. They spend alot of time there. I decided to just brush it off since I was hungry af and had a good day up until then. Normally, something like that would have had me furious. Thank God for growth. Then the grits and cheese had a funny taste, the eggs did too. The pancakes were dry and hard. The bacon was great. The fruit was great. The salad was great. The apple juice was great. I really cannot believe that I still ate what I could and I paid for it with a smile...but whatever. I will (maybe) try Shoney's again, but this time, a different location. I'm sure they all can't be the same....at...
Read moreTerrible customer service. Breakfast bar was not breakfast at all!! Had fried chicken on the breakfast bar with other things, that I will not name, also the bar was not kept stocked with food. Had to ask several times about somethings. Good variety of food. Some of the food was hard, like French bread sticks, sausage links, parts of scrambled eggs, etc. The waitress we had was awful! She and her pink hair did not do the job she was hired for! 🙄 It seemed to me as if it was a sin for her to wait on us! But she was always on her heels and toes about everyone around us! She kept their drinks full and always asked them if they needed anything. Never once did she do that to the table, that we were seated at! I actually had to flag her down, just to ask for napkins! And when we finally recieved them they were wet and staind on the ends of them! Lucky my partner had some wet wipes! Not to be racist or anything, but she noticed that other people were finished with their meals and brought them thier tickets to check-out, but never brought ours! Then I noticed another older couple that was the color of the same race as us, that got tired 😫 of waiting as well, just got up and checked out at the counter! I told my guest, her, what I was seeing 👀 and she also thought that it was ridiculous! So, we got and went to the front counter, paid and left! If I could give this place NO STARS on customer service I would! My guest and I have been to this place several times, but from this experience NEVER EVER...
