O'Connell's bar changed hands last year. It used to be Duke's bar. Duke's had been in the same family since prohibition. It's now owned by 1 of Duke's decades long bartenders. The O'Connell's have updated the establishment making it more comfortable and family friendly. It's a pleasant neighborhood bar in the heart of downtown Springfield. They carry a good beer selection both draft & bottles along with a full assortment of mixed drinks. They offer entrees, sandwiches and bar food in a smoke free environment. Read moreI went their after hearing about the owner transfer. When I got thier the drinks are way more affordable then Saxers. But I went to go sit in the back within the second I sat down. Some random old man started filtering with me which I tried to find the bartender, who gone into the back. I, of course, texted my father for help while the first old man stared at me a lot, another old man came and grabbed me saying I should wake up and pay more attention. I never found my bartender.
