We visited Springfield from St Louis this past weekend and after doing a little research online decided to have lunch here at Boone's. When we went it was mildly busy on a Saturday afternoon but we were able to get a table straight away. So that's the good.... let's talk about the important things.
We ordered a bang-bang shrimp appetizer. We've had this at other places - like Bonefish Grill for instance - but this was entirely different than anything we've had elsewhere. It was certainly their own twist and it was not good. It wasn't horrible either... but bang-bang shrimp is supposed to have kick. This had none. The shrimp was seriously overcooked and the sauce was lacking any punch and was only drizzled over the shrimp to begin with. I wouldn't recommend at all.
I ordered a blackened chicken alfredo and my wife got fish tacos.
I'll talk about the fish tacos first because my wife loved them. She said they were amongst the very best fish tacos she's had around the country and we've eaten at a lot of very nice establishments all across the nation. She especially liked the slaw and said the fish was cooked to perfection. Awesome.
Now... the blackened chicken alfredo. So here's my predicament. After trying their bang-bang shrimp that lacked any flavor at all, I honestly expected the blackened chicken to be barely seasoned as well. Boy was I wrong. In fact it was so seasoned that all you could taste was the season. Look, I lived in New Orleans.. the home of blackened everything. Blackened doesn't mean you overcome the taste buds with seasoning... and quite honestly ALL you could taste was seasoning here. In fact if I'm being completely honest, it really looked and tasted as though they seasoned the chicken, cooked it and then threw more seasoning on top of it. It didn't looked baked in at all. I took a knife and scraped the chicken and took chunks of seasoning off and it was still covered in it. Again... I like seasoning. I like a kick to my food. This was utterly disgusting. It ruined the plate which otherwise was okay... the sauce and the noodles were fine, the chicken itself was even cooked well enough. But the amount of seasoning just poured on and not cooked through it just ruined it.
So did I complain? Normally I would, but after being out all day in the sun shopping and site-seeing and still wanting to visit some stores before they closed, we just got the check, paid and left.
Honestly... there was nobody to complain to anyway. Once the server took our order and brought our food, we didn't see him again until we tracked him down to get our check. He never came back and asked if everything tasted okay. Never came back to fill our drinks that sat empty for the half hour or so we sat there. Not once.
All in all.... I can not recommend this place at all. 2 out of the 3 things we ordered were not good at all... and the service was horrible.
Find somewhere else to eat in...
Read moreIf you want to spoil a good day you can surely visit this place as it sets it’s standard high to disappoint people with it’s pathetic food and don’t even get me started on the staff behaviour… Everything was mismanaged as worst as possible. First we had to arrange tables for us ourselves.. no one bothered to have us seated. After waiting for almost 20 minutes someone was there to ask for drinks and we just asked for simple water and in return we got a big plastic mug with something floating on the water which was very clearly visible… we politely mentioned that and asked for a change of water which was very obvious but the attitude we got from the server was very unkind and unnecessary. After that when it was time to order we were told they were out of more than half of their menu.. “it was Saturday night 7 pm” but we were out there celebrating our graduation with friends and family so didn’t want to spoil the mood and we ordered whatever was available but that was a huge mistake we got our orders more than 45 minutes after ordering and that too just the appetisers.. and that too without any plates any silverware no napkins just simple food plates on the table.. again after calling out someone and waiting for 15 minutes we were given some silverware and “plastic plates” with the same horrible attitude as if we were asking for something out of ordinary. We ordered nachos and got fries and were told we serve fries as nachos what in world is that an explanation. We ordered horseshoe as we wanted our family to have the famous Springfield horseshoe but it was just chicken fries and cheese I can’t even explain our disappointment. I can just go on and on as it was a very special day for us and our friends and family and one decision made the night horrendous. I have shared my experience here so that no one gets to spoil their beautiful day by having such a disastrous dinner and in the hope that the restaurant acknowledges and think for the betterment of...
Read moreI am very saddened to write this as I have been to Boones before and have had great service. My grandparents and I came to Boones last night to enjoy the food and listen to some good music, but our service was absolutely horrible. We waited around 20 minutes for our server to greet us, so long that the hostess brought us waters while we waited. We immediately put in our orders when our server finally came and also put in our drinks. We did not see our server again for probably an hour, but we did see other workers as they brought us our drinks. Another table were sat outside and that is when we saw our server again. It had been over an hour since we had ordered and so I asked her if she could check on our food and she told us it would be right out. Thirty minutes go by and our server is no where to be found, as well as our food. We spoke with the manager and it turns out, our food order was never placed! We left after waiting over two hours for food and no refills on drinks. We still had to pay for our drinks, which I can somewhat understand, but I believe we should have been compensated for the two hours wasted. I really do love this place, but I do not think I can come back after the experience we...
