On Sunday, January 27, 2019, I went to the Einstein Brother's Bagels on 1933 S. National, Springfield, Missouri to by bagels. I arrived at 7:00 a.m., the business was suppose to open at 7:00 a.m, but, did not open until 7:07 a.m. The manager and employees were still preparing for the day. Even though I was standing outside the door (there were no other customers waiting) in 32 degree weather, they chose to not open the door an let me in at 7:00 a.m. When they opened I gave the cashier a list of bagels I was purchasing. I was ordering 9 dozen bagels for my Aunt's post funeral luncheon. The employee twice looked at the list and me with a puzzled look. He then held up my list like it was contaminated by two fingers to the Manager. She told me that I needed to place this order 24 hours in advance. I said I understood. She then said again about ordering 24 hours in advance and that she did not have enough dough thawed to complete the order. Mind you there was racks of bagels still to be put into the cases for sale. I again said I understood and began to leave. The manager to my back said the same thing again and I left. I was in the retailing business including the food service industry for 20 years. What bothered me was not the requirement of the 24 hour notice, but the hateful and contemptuous tone and attitude of the manager. And the fact that the Manager did not ask me what the order was for and seek an alternative to possibility resolve my request. Instead she verbally kicked me out the door and costs her business $130.00 in revenue. So instead I went to Pandora Bread Company on Sunshine and got excellent service and my order filled for about...
Read moreReally inconsistent. The food is good but the service really needs direction. My last visit, the lady at the drive through was pathetically slow and could not multitask to save her life. As the line of cars grew longer, she didn't lift a finger to help her coworkers--she just stood in front of the blender and watched it blend. She didn't take the time to do something else, she just watched the blender.
Her frustrated coworker eventually came up front with my two bagels with toppers. It was obviously made in a hurry, no thanks to window cashier. Cold bagels sliced at 80/20 with a flattened glob of Spicy Devil with barely any bacon or jalapeños.
But who am I to complain about bagels? I'm mainly complaining on behalf of her coworkers who were thrown under the bus while the cashier had to watch the blender like it was going to run away. Just a simple toss into the slicer could have helped your peers, but no! That frozen coffee was up...
Read moreIt seems that every time I visit this location it is a great letdown compared to the chain as a whole. Here in Springfield there is a second location, of which I have never had an issue with. This location can never seem to get the coffee right, and then I have had instances in which the sand which had the paper from the cheese still on on it! I love Einstein, but not this location. While the staff at this locationare super friendly it seems nothing is ever correct the first time. I am consistently disappointed. For instance, today I thought I’d just pick up a nice cold brew coffee for a little pick me up, that was a mistake. I should have driven out of my way to the other location. You could swear that this coffee was watered down. It is not at all like it should be.
If possible I would rate this particular location less than one for consistent...
