El Vaquero Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Springfield

Awful. I ordered a delivery order for them 45 minutes before they closed. It was just beef nachos with cheese. The delivery driver sat and waited and waited. They lied to premium said they called me, but they did not. I called today and asked to speak eith the manager, they said they speak no English. When I began to speak fluent Spanish to them. They told me they said they did not in understand and told me the manager would be there tomorrow and hung up in my face. Premium did nothing, but said sorry this looks bad on premium so they need to more careful about how they pick and choose the restaurants they work with. El Vaquera has terrible customer service, and my friend allowed me to try the tacos they tasted soggy and like they had been frozen. I had faith to get them another chance by trying what my friend purchases and so the bad customer service and rude staff matches the quality of their food. Go to El Mocahetes’...

Old location, new experience. This used to be a bad Mexican restaurant. Apparently there are new owners. I went on a busy Friday night. I was seated promptly and greeted promptly with warm chips and fresh salsa. I ordered the Chiles Rellenos which included 3 chiles - it was delicious! The bigger, fancier Mexican restaurant in town only gives you two chiles.... AND it's $2 more. My meal literally came out hot and fresh in 5 minutes. My server was attentive and efficient. Just an overall great experience. It's an older building with a weird layout so don't let that deter you from having some good Mexican food. If there is one criticism, i wish the parking lot was lighted and easier...

My family and I have eaten here several times. The food here is really good. The menu consists of typical Mexican fare, and I have not been disappointed with anything I have ever ordered here. My issue is with the wicker baskets that they serve the chips in. Until these are replaced with something that can be washed, I will have to go elsewhere.

UPDATE: Upon returning several weeks after my original post we found that they are serving chips differently. Glad we can start coming back to our favorite spot in town for Mexican food!
