Worst experience ever! We’ve been coming to this restaurant for years and tonight I came with my three girls for dinner and my husband was coming to meet us as he was just getting off the train. We walked in and it took a while for the lady at the front desk to even Acknowledge us and when she did she asked how many were in our group and I said 5 and my husband was coming shortly. I said we could fit in a booth like we usually do and then she said really loud that customers sitting at the front could hear, she said I remember you, you have all the kids and you eat one dish between you, one dish!!!!! She was really mad about this! My husband orders a dish to himself but I find the portions extremely big and between my chicken and broccoli dish I can feed all my girls as well, and have extra food still! Portions are huge! The lady said it so rude and I was completely shocked she would ever say that! I looked over at One couple sitting closest to the front and they both were looking at me like what just happened and the women’s mouth dropped at how she could even say such rude words to a paying customer! And the guy standing by the door next to me waiting for his to go order said to me, wow that was rude! Everytime I have eaten here they have never really been accepting of the kids or much less nice. I remember at a drop in play in Summit over the summer another Mom who I just met was asking where a good Chinese place was and I suggested Hunan Spring. She said she went a few times and the food was so so but the service with she and her husband and two kids was the worst. She said, I think they don’t like kids to come dine there and she didn’t feel comfortable to go again because of it. After the women at the front desk said that I looked down at my daughters and said, sorry girls that is not how we should be treated and we are not ever coming back! Such poor customer service. We will never go here again. We left and went to Thai House in Millburn and they know two of my...
Read moreSome of the best, most authentic Chinese food you can find in the area! Upon arrival, we were happy to see that the restaurant had it's own parking lot in the back. The hostess was friendly greeting us, and we had our choice of either a booth or a table. The interior of the restaurant was well decorated, and we appreciated the natural lighting and the abundance of plants that really brought the place to life. The menu was absolutely extensive, and there were practically endless options for us to choose from. Luckily, the menu was well organized and we were able to consult our waiter for recommendations. We ordered the hot and sour soup, the spicy wontons, and the shrimp toast. All came quickly and piping hot, and tasted fresh and very flavorful. They were also very accommodating to the vegetarian in the party, which is uncommon for some other Chinese restaurants.
We ordered a bunch of entrees to share, but by far the highlight was the lobster. It was cooked perfectly and tenderly, and the lobster itself was meaty and juicy. The sauce was deliciously savory, and we could taste the skill of the chefs in each bite. Our other entrees were just as satisfying, and you truly cannot go wrong with anything on the menu.
Overall, the wait staff were attentive and helpful, the servings were appropriate and very filling, and our dining experience was very pleasant. We will definitely be returning, and getting takeout when we can't come in! You can't...
Read moreAvoid this place, the pandemic didn't take it, I was happy, finally went, I don't wish them ill, but I certainly wont be back. It was Christmas, it was busy and they were understaffed (our waiter and busboys were all HS kids), but the manager/owner lady made it very clear that she was doing us a favor by having us at her restaurant. She literally said "are you going, you're done, I did you a favor giving you a table" as we were finishing our meal and drinks, having already paid (we asked for and paid the check before we finished) and the table was in the process of being cleared. The tables around us were as shocked by her statement as we were.
So, unless you want a badly staged Monty Python or Fawlty Towers live action reenactment along with your meal, I'd say skip it.
Good/average food, we made reservations, not a walk in, and they did seat us after a few minutes of waiting. food was slow to come out but understandable since it was a busy night. Impressively bad management, but at least she got her staff tipped before she decided to be a jackass. I doubt it's one off, I assume her husband/brother/family/co-manager who was also at the front desk didn't even attempt to feign an apology as we left - he's likely so use to the short leash he no longer knows how to act.
The facts: 4 adults, 2 children, normal family meal, busy night, middling/decent food, servers tried to keep up with the evening. Manager is 100% the reason to...
