First visit and frankly, the food didn't justify a need for photos
The service was excellent, but then again they weren't very busily after 8 p.m. Gator bites were hot and tasty, but obviously frozen product. Not sure ehat all is in that krackin' sauce, as I tend to dislike anything with mayo or sour cream texture/flavor notes or appearances and this was a really nice flavor note that I enjoyed.
Ordered the softshell crab sandwich. Not sure why my brain had crabcake on a bun pictured, but I ddi and was surprised to get an entire softshell crab...on a bun. The softshell was wondeful, but the bun was soggy, detracting from it. If you're going to out cheese on that sandwich, DO NOT use sliced American cheese and DO NOT put it on cold as it will never melt correctly. The bun and cheese were huge detractions from the softshell crab sandwich. When a customer asks for jalapeños, out of the jar and puled on the sandwich is a no-go! Fresh jalapeños ONLY and use 3-4 slices maximum, just ebough fir flavor and heat, but not so much that it hides the softshell crab.
The fried pickles were a tolerable loss as they almost seemed like someone dumped a jar of pickles into batter and deep fried them. Absolutely no seasoning notes in the batter could be picked up and the batter was all you tasted about 6-8 pickle slices in.
Also had the gumbo. Another bread failure came with the gumbo. It almost needs something fried to come out with it. Not too soupy, jot tok thick, solid flavor coming through the gumbo. Great idea with a smal sample of the gumbo or the etouffee to help a customer decide! Figure out the bread issue and give that bread some flavor to compliment the gumbo. Psst. You're right down from the Breadsmith. Go see Sean there and take some gumbo. Ask him if he has anything that would pair to it. Chances are that he will and he can also fix the off-the-shelf bun issue with the...
Read moreI dont want to be mean, only share my experience and hopefully inspire some change. I was so excited to come here. I was craving cajun so bad and did not get cajun food. I got the red king crab with potatoes, corn and boiled eggs. It had almost no flavor even with the seasonings added in. The crab and corn were over cooked. I was sadly disappointed. I asked to sample the etoufee and the sauce was amazing but the shrimp and crawfish were highly overcooked and had the consistency of rubber. I made due and ate because I'm pregnant and hungry and because for the barely any food (2 kids got small shrimp with fries and husband only got fries) we got, it cost $200. I have no problem spending if its cooked correctly and what they claim the food is supposed to be. Not worth the price where flavor, cooking and portion is concerned. I enjoyed eating because I was hungry and it was edible enough to eat but not due to consuming good food. Service was okay. Our waitress asked if I wanted my cup refilled and I said no and she filled it anyway (I do not like wasting) and didn't clear the table until we were done. I have worked in many restaurants and know what is expected in a restaurant and the amount of cross contamination I witnessed was unacceptable. The man bussing tables dropped a salt shaker on the floor and put it right back on the table as well as putting condiments on the chair where people put their butt and stuck those on the table without cleaning seats or bottles. After I was done eating, I went to go wash my hands and saw that the drink refill pitchers were right near the sink you wash seafood off of your hands! So as the seafood and soap splashes off of your hands it has a good chance of getting into your drink when they come to refill you. Needless to say, we won't be coming back. I honestly feel bad giving less than a 5 star review anywhere but I had to share honestly what...
Read moreWe recently visited Krackin Cajun Seafood House in Springfield for a Friday Night First dinner, and it did not disappoint! The staff welcoming, making it a great place to enjoy some delicious seafood and Southern comfort food at a great prices.
We started with the fried pickles, which were amazing. They had a light, crispy batter and were perfectly fried, with just the right balance of tangy and crunchy. The fried gator bites were delicious. They were tender on the inside and crispy on the outside and with the Krackin sauce, AMAZING!!
The hushpuppies were soft on the inside and had a slightly sweet flavor, a great complement to everything else. The chicken fried rice was packed with flavor, and every bite was deliciously seasoned.
For the main dish, we had the etouffee, which was creamy, meaty, and absolutely bursting with flavor. The seasoning was spot on, making every spoonful a comfort-food dream.
To finish off the meal, we had the fried banana with ice cream and caramel. It was sweet and indulgent, a perfection way to end the evening on a high note.
Overall, Krackin Cajun Seafood House is a great spot for anyone craving flavorful Cajun and seafood dishes. The service was friendly, the food was fantastic, and I’ll...
