I have so much fun always at these classes. My absolute favorite instructor is OT and his wonderful wife Sharon. I've now been to 7 classes and have enjoyed them all immensely; however the last class presented many difficulties. The tables have been turned perpendicular to the instructor. I don't see any other reason for this change but to accommodate more people in the class. I'm happy that this seems to be necessary and a sign that more and more people enjoy painting, BUT this makes it very difficult to see the instructor, follow along, and people sitting at the far "behind" table constantly have to ask the instructor to move to see what's going on. I can imagine that this can be irritating on the instructor to constantly be told to move away from the project and does detract from the overall class positivity because of the constant student, what are you doing--I can't see interruption. I don't believe even the most perfectly descriptive instructor, like OT, can get around a student who just needs to learn by seeing. Also, those of us who have difficulties turning our heads either by way of age, or in my case fused vertebrae, experience pain after class due to trying to see to the side instead of just looking up. The new table position also presents a problem for those sitting in the "back" of the class. Not only do they need to turn to see the instructor, they also have to try to see through all of us sitting to the left or right making for a leaning back and forth and turning constantly. This is truly a wonderful sign that we are finally getting back to normal after COVID, and more and more people are getting out to enjoy painting. Maybe this is a sign for Painting with a Twist to expand either by way of space or by making more classes available during the day to keep the student number smaller per class to allow the tables to be put back in their original position; facing the instructor. Thank you, thank you for still making this possible in Springfield, MO. Keep up...
Read moreOk, I'll admit, when my lovely wife first took me here, I was terrified. They say yellow and blue make green but if I mix them together, it'll find a way to be red! Well, that's not exactly true. Lol. My point is, the class instructors can take someone as inept as myself and help me create a painting that doesn't look half bad. I've done 2 classes so far. The first class was packed, the 2nd class only had 5 people. I personally enjoyed the smaller class. For me, it was less stressful as I hate big crowds especially when I'm clueless on what's going on. The instructor takes time to explain stuff, techniques, color mixing, and many other things while making it fun. The last class I took, which was small, was an absolute blast. The first class. Much larger, was fun too. The instructors are funny and very friendly. It's neat and a great date night experience. They do company and private parties that offer team building exercises through paintings. How cool is that? They have a frequent painters program. If you miss a class, you can reschedule. You just don't lose your money. They offer save your painting classes on Saturdays which are free. This allows you to either finish your painting or get help in fixing it in the event you paint worse than I do. They want you to be fully satisfied and really make every attempt to make this happen. Go check it out! Lots of fun! You won't...
Read moreFirst, I recommend reading every "low" rating. They all provide very factual expectations. I read them after I paid/booked. In my honest opinion, I wish I would have read them before. The web page mentioned Sip.Socialize.Create, which is misleading. Your socializing will be asking people around you "what do I do next?". It's a mad rush from the start. Thank goodness our instructor decided to go over on time booked, otherwise the entire class would be at the SOS class. As a semi creative 30-something year old, I almost broke a sweat keeping up in the Kids 8+ class... My daughter who is almost 9, left sad about her painting and not confident, despite my constant encouragement. As a mom-daughter date, it was sadly a fail. Do.Not.Recommend for kids, unfortunately. As an adult, I've been to better organized franchises with this exact experience, don't waste your money on this one UNLESS you have better skill sets. They are not going to teach you really & you have to keep up. They run into this issue so often that they have an SOS class to compensate. I personally do not want to come twice due to an issue you have plenty of feedback on but are not addressing properly. Either have a 2 part class/design OR schedule the classes with appropriate timing. It is possible to get this right. But this location doesn't have it figured...
