This is one of the oldest and original donut shops of Mel-O-Cream, that I remember from my memory in Springfield, Illinois when I was little in 1964 - 1966. Those times were special to me, because we lived with my Grandmother on 13th street. I remember my Uncle Bobby, He would bring her a beautiful, Yellow Box of Mel-O-Cream Donuts every Sunday, and my Uncle Norman (who lived with us), if my Uncle Bobby couldn't visit, he would go out and get a box of Mel-O-Creams, or a box of Gold-n-Glow at Sonrise Bakery, if he was in a hurry. Usually, it was always Mel-O-Creams, and the delicious tasting delights inside were so scrumptious. I looked forward to those Sunday Dreams of Mel-O-Creams. Gold-n-Glow were good, but, Mel-O-Cream Donuts were out of this world. So, when I go to a happy place in my mind, it is at my grandmother's house, where there was always a box of delicious, Mel-O-Creams, sitting in a box just waiting to be eaten by my quick hands.
