My wife and I used to come here with our families as youngsters and hoped we would have the blast from the past memories of great food, atmosphere and family dinner like service..................WE DID x 100............. this was the best meal we've had in Springfield in ages!!!!!! No Joke I am as surprised myself its still the same best place ever..... we sat at the bar with our son and had a great time joking and talking with the owner / bartender.........Great guy really funny and personable....... We ordered 1 Bacon wrapped filet, 1 Ribeye with hand battered shrimp (totally could tell it was hand battered shrimp), and of course a French Fried Lobster tail.......... I cant tell you enough the food was Spot on Spectacular............ My Ribeye was so tender I blabbered about it every bite........ even to the point the owner said there it is again and thanks for enjoying it so much.......... I mean the tenderness of the med rare steak, i told the owner it was like eating a light flaky fish filet but the best tasting good 5 star restaurant quality red meat Ive had in years if not ever...........i mean it really............. Our hats off to you folks at the Old Lux.....Keep up the great work............And for those of you reading this...............I really dont want to arm wrestle anyone for a seat at the bar but please make this a place you try very soon and all the time and tell your friends.............I dont know the owners but when they ran out of homemade ice cream he offered to run back to the place they make it and bring another gallon.....................I said dont worry about it we will be back .............. The Old Lux had great reviews so we decided to try it out. The owner, Dennis, is extremely friendly and accommodating. He gave us a free app sampler platter since it was our 1st time in and we were blown away. They have this Creamy Garlic dip/dressing and it is the bomb! We had a few beers at the bar with our app before being seated for our reservation. The atmosphere and company made us comfortable. I ordered the Filet Mignon and Fried Lobster Tail...O.M.G. It was to die for. They have a special sauce for your baked potato and I had never had anything like that before. This place is the place to go if you want some excellent food and service!
