Soooo good! I will be the first one to admit I don't know anything about Mediterranean food or falafel, but I was looking for an exotic bite to eat. I was thrilled to see a falafel sandwich because I had always wanted to try it. Placed an order online and went to pickup. When you pull up the first thing you think is "this is definitely one of those hole-in-the-wall restaurants." Most of them I find are gems - this one especially did not disappoint. A boom box is on the table playing culture -appropriate music, very clean, a little busy and OH MY GOD THE SMELL!! So fragrant with spices. The sign says come in for the smell, come back for the taste and it is not lying. Unfortunately the little tablet they had didn't notify them of my order, so she swiped my card and looked it up and they made my order fresh. Expect to wait as this is a chipotle -style restaurant in the aspect you build your own meal so things are made to order - fresh Hot and totally worth it. I have no idea what a falafel sandwich is supposed to taste like but it tasted phenomenal, pita was crispy and hot, and it's so filling. For my patience they offered me a baklava cheesecake - please don't sell yourself short and get dessert. I don't even like cheesecake and that was the best damn thing I have ever tasted. All while at an affordable price for size of sandwich and labor, this will be on my list of places to come back to! Super friendly service and they work well together under pressure. Go give these guys a try- you won't be...
Read moreI read about this place opening and thought I would try it out. How you order is similar to Panda Express or Chipotle. You can order it as a pita or a bowl ( as the name implies) 1 protein is $8.99, or you can choose from 2 protein or 3 protein for a higher price. I got the basmati rice, shesh kebabs ( which is beef), arabic pickles ( which has sliced almonds in it), diced tomatoes, diced onions, and tahini sauce. This was to go, so I didn't notice much about the interior. It looked clean from what I did see. Staff was polite. I was given a spoon and a plastic wrapped knife instead of a fork, but I took it home anyway. The best part was the beef shesh kebabs they were cooked nicely and the spices were not overwhelming. The pickles were pickles with sliced almonds ( may have Arabic spices in there, but could not tell for sure). The basmati rice was where the Arabic spices are, the rice was cooked perfectly the spices if your not familiar with them may taste unusual. All in all it was good, I would go back to sample the other food they have available. They have Mediterranean and middle eastern food, since other places have Mediterranean food around Springfield, im just checking out the middle eastern cuisine part. They are located on S. Grand and 11th next to Happy Sushi. They...
Read moreI've been here multiple times and recommended it to family and friends. All the meats are well seasoned and delicious. I haven't tried the falafel yet but only because everything else is so good. Same reason I haven't tried a pita yet, the bowl so always so good.
Sometimes you do have to wait for some of the meat. If it's slow, they don't keep a lot ready but I'm OK with that, it means I get it fresher. If I know I'll be in a hurry, I just order ahead for pick-up.
Service is very good. They explain what everything is if you haven't been there before and are friendly. One time they had a HUGE walk in order ahead of me and my friend we had to wait 20 minutes for rice (our choice to wait, we could have left since we hadn't paid yet) and our food was comped. I did not expect that at all. I thought, if anything they might offer us a free item or a discount on our next visit but a free meal was completely unexpected. hat kind of service and recognition of customers time and the tasty food is why I continue to patronize...
