My daughter had an appointment at the clinic next door today, and in the past I've told her that if we have time the next time there we would go to Sonic. Well today was that day, and boy were we both excited! We have never been to a Sonic ever before, so we were really looking forward to it as we pulled in and parked in the front to order. The girl on the intercom had a sweetly saccharine customer service voice which indicated to me that she was putting in effort for customer service. We ordered a chicken sandwich and onion rings and a bacon garlic butter burger and pickle fries and a root beer. There was so much going on on that order board I was a little overwhelmed, but when the screen asked if I wanted to tip, I decided I would since she was obviously trying very hard to have a good customer service voice. When we received our order, I didn't find onion rings in the bag, but I found mozzarella sticks instead. So I hit the call button and she came back on the line and I let her know that I had ordered Onion rings and I got Mozzarella sticks instead, and how I understood that she mis-keyed it but I also should have looked at the order on the screen. She then lets me know that there isn't anything she could do about it, and if I wanted the onion rings I needed to buy them. I honestly was shocked. I was ready to give them the mozzarella sticks back, but was not prepared to pay more money to get what I originally ordered. The Mozzarella Sticks cost more money than the onion rings, and I was charged for them, so that was insult to injury that I paid for something i didn't want and tipped them to do it, and then told me to pay more for what I actually wanted. It was baffling honestly. I would understand if I had ordered two things and I then demanded to have everything comped for a small mistake, but I had paid $26 at this point already, and was not looking for handouts, but that was how I was treated by a very sickly sweet voice telling me too bad so sad, but not in those words exactly. I won't be going back, unfortunately as I was looking forward to getting slushies and other beverages when the weather heats up. Looks like I will just continue to make...
Read moreGenerally love Sonic, especially for the bags of ice. Unfortunately, today, we ordered a dozen pretzels and three drinks through DoorDash, and that didn't go well. We received half the pretzels our receipt says we paid for and got no cheese. The pretzels were also overdone and under-salted. The DoorDasher says she only got from you what she delivered. Additionally, we had Rt44 drinks but small straws, and the lids weren't properly sticker sealed.
When I called the store to resolve it from that end, the phone rang 12 times with no pickup. So, one of a couple things is the likely truth: we have a DoorDasher stealing food and blaming you because you don't label, bind, and seal orders with multiple bags together so they can't be tampered with by drivers, or the staff at this location dropped the ball. Gauging by the quality of the food we got, the wrong straws, and the lack of stickers, I'm willing to bet the store actually dropped the ball here, and since you aren't picking up the phone on top of the comedy of errors, I'm taking the Dasher at her word.
I get being busy and wanting to rush the orders where the guest isn't right there for their presence to stress you out directly. At the same time, that lack of attention to detail creates bad experiences for the guest that they don't forget about the next time they are in person. Please don't be in such a hurry with my order that you have to fix or remake it. Aside from disappointing me, that creates more work and stress for you in the long run as well. Slow down, revisit your delivery prep policies for how they can be improved and more accountably followed, and answer your phone by the sixth ring.
Sincerely,
A restaurant manager who knows what outcomes like this mean behind...
