This place should not be 4 stars. At all. I don’t love to poopoo on locally owned places. Unfortunately, the food is simply not good. The service was fantastic and the server herself was attentive and so pleasant, which is what honestly saved the experience for us. I had a pulled pork sandwich with potato salad and an extra side of cole slaw. My husband tried the “philly cheesesteak” special. We were both wildly underwhelmed. Quality was around amusement park food court level. And the price is the same - you wonder how it costs that much and feel a little gypped. Being from the south, I have a fairly good array of experience with BBQ (but don’t all southerners say that lol 🙄) and this is just not good quality. The smoke or cook must be fairly short, the fat is not rendered and you don’t taste the wood. There were three large gelatinous slabs of fat in my sandwich, pretty off putting. The sauces are not complex and add nothing to the meal - they are single toned, kinda sweet or kinda spice - no actual flavors. My husband Philly was really just a steak sandwich, and a just sorta okay one at that. The coleslaw had chunks of the core throughout and was very mayonnaise-ey. The potato salad, my favorite, taste like nothing. The smoke you do smell as you leave has that old fry tank oil smell. Here is one good thing I learned in this experience, I can check this location as “have tried” and move on with my life, never...
Read moreWent in by myself, looking for a Bbq throw down. I'm from NC, so I am a little judgmental when it comes to Bbq. This place hit all the marks a southern boy required. Good ribs. Perfectly seasoned. The half rack was plenty, and under the half rack, I found an extra lil end section of Ribs, all crusty and burny in a good way, lol. The crusty part, is the best part in my opinion. Back home we serve Burnt Ends off the Butts. The regular smoky bbq sauce was tangy, smoky, and delicious. The Potato Salad was some of the best I ever had, and the Mac and Cheese was on point. The sweet iced tea with lemon wedge, which is a requirement of any good Bbq House, just topped things off for me. The lady who waited on me was sweet and efficient. She asked if I wanted any Apple, Peach, or Blueberry Crisp, with Ice Cream. I wanted them all, but alas, the ribby goodness left no room for dessert. My loss. I feasted. I made a mess of the table. They understood. I left happy and bursting at the seams. I felt I got a good meal for the price point. It's not cheap. Nor would I call it expensive. Good Cue costs money to produce. This was...
Read moreThis Restaurant does not know how to cook prime rib to start. I asked for an end cut because it’s a little more well done and it has more spices on the end.
I received a Bulbus hunk of sinue that could not even be cut with a knife. The corn muffin was small undersized, the Texas potatoes were not even lukewarm and a tiny little scoop…not good flavor….They were terrible, and the beans were horrible watery and flavorless. They lacked the depth of flavor that good beans should have. The salad was the best thing we ate and it was pedestrian. It’s the biggest waste of $80 I have ever spent. My guess is the management doesn’t even taste their own food. If they did, they’d go eat somewhere else. Both my end cut and my girlfriend’s internal cut were grisly and not fork tender…a horrible piece of beef.
I suspect the prime rib and all the side dishes were cooked much earlier and fired in a microwave… nowhere near fresh… And nowhere near mediocre. I’m on a fixed income and I am never returning to the hole in the wall...
