Just left the Tea Bar and Bites for their Mayan Moon Night. I was looking forward to trying this restaurant on one of their themed nights. I wish I could say it was as great as they hype it up to be. When we arrived we sat inside. I do not believe my experience would have been any different if I would have sat out on the patio since everyone was receiving the same meal because of the theme night. We received our drinks in a timely fashion but the 1st course did not come out for half an hour! The appetizer was actually delicious! It was the best part of the whole meal. It was not very big but I let that part go since it was an appetizer. The next course was a corn bisque which was good but not anything special. It was served in a small dish that you would bake a souffle in. The next course came out about 20 minutes later and was a salad that was also in a souffle dish. If you do not know what a souffle dish it would amount to about half a cup completely full. Once again, salad was nothing to write home about. The main meal came out about 20 minutes after the salad. It was an open-faced tamale that had a high school cafeteria scoop of extremely dry pork and a corn muffin. The corn muffin was very good. The pork on the other hand had barely any sauce and something that I would possibly give to my dog because I messed up cooking. The dessert came about 20 minutes after and was their house flan, which to me tasted great at first and then I realized it was because it had caramel sauce on top. By the time we were done with our meal we were excruciatingly bored and ready to leave. I enjoy trying new restaurants and this place really seemed fun! I honestly was going into it thinking that the food would be enjoyable. I had the best company with me and we both were there so long waiting for our food we were bored and still hungry when we left. The bill was just under $100. We could have gone to Flame for just a little more. Sadly I will have to say that I will not be...
Read moreI had a poor experience here this past Saturday when visiting with my partner, my sister, and 4 year old neice in town, wanting to enjoy a pumpkin cinnamon roll together. We arrived with 4 or 5 parties in front of us in line and several open tables. There were several larger tables with parties that weren't using all the chairs, so I politely asked one of them if I could take a free chair, and went to sit at one of the smaller tables in the back corner while my family ordered for us. Within a few minutes, a server (dark hair, sweatshirt and jeans) who hadn't yet interacted with me angily removed the chair while my family was still in line, snapping that it was in the way of a large walkway and I could check in with the counter to be seated (not sure this is the process when I didn't see a server seating anyone else?). No one had walked through the back "walkway" in the 10 minutes my group had been waiting so far. Instead of kindly helping us understand the process to be seated and request we relocate or wait until we had ordered, there was no hello or question about our party size while she turned away with the chair to disengage as quickly as possible. She didn't let me ask any questions and I was barely able to let her know I had a group in line. I was so shocked by this experience that I went up to my family to let them know we were leaving. I'm not sure why I was the target of this treatment, when several other parties were seated at large tables with extra seats, and we were trying to find a small table to sit three adults (with the child sitting on her mother's lap). We don't think we'll be giving them our business going forward. Cherry Picker has always been a much more pleasant experience than the crowded courtyard at Tea Bar, so we went there instead. I was upset upon leaving, and sorry my partner, sister, and neice had to experience this interaction on an otherwise...
Read moreI had been looking forward to trying this cute local eatery and was excited about the fresh, healthy menu items. It was pouring down rain and finding a parking place took several turn arounds and ended up walking quite a distance, which was not a huge deal. Our friend we were meeting had initially been seated before we arrived but after seating her she was asked to come back to the front because the table was reserved they had seated her at. We were seated once we were able to join her after taking a bit to find parking. We got our menus and water and waited for quite a while for the server to come back to take our order. However, when se did come back she said that their computer was down and they could not take our order and she wasnt sure when the computer would be fixed. She said we could wait if we wanted. Was not really appologetic or friendly. We did wait for about 30 minutes. She did not come back to update us or check on us during that time. She did come and take the ticket of the table next to us and came back to pick up the dishes. Still not updating us or speaking to us. I asked her if they were able to take payment and she said yes. I started to asked her if she could maybe take our order with paper/pen or if she had an idea if the computer would be fixed soon but she walked away mid sentence. We were being very patient and understanding with the issue at hand. The waitress was very rude and not customer friendly at all. It was very disappointing as we made a special trip and had been looking forward to having lunch there. I am sure the food would have been great. We will...
