Loved the Gelatas enough to overlook things like spending more on ice cream than a meal sometimes, really long wait times, the teenage employees (who were polite but always gave off minimum wage, first job vibes), and the annoying tip assumptive card reader at checkout. I returned regularly despite these issues & even recommended it to others. My experience yesterday was bad enough that, as much as I enjoy the Gelatas, I don't know if I will choose to return.
I'm not a big complainer. Even when something is wrong with my order I don't like to bring it up. After waiting in the drive thru w/ only one car ahead for 30 plus minutes & spending $20 plus tip on a couple of ice creams, I realized they'd handed me the wrong order after pulling away. I decided I'd invested enough that I wanted to get what I actually ordered. I called & was very nice when speaking to the girl who answered, who said she'd get a manager. The manager refused to get on the phone & had the girl get back on to dismiss me. I wanted to try to get the corrected part of my order but would have been satisfied with even the tiniest bit of acknowledgement or concern that it was wrong. I get that stuff happens. I wasn't calling to berate anyone & was super nice about it but what I got in return was the same as being told they could care less. Read moreWe love Zeppes Italian Ice, but the service at this location is horrible. We went to the window, ordered our 5 ice items, and sat down to wait. After waiting for 20 min, and watching at least 5 cars get their order through the drive through, we go to the window to get a status on our order because we had an appointment we needed to get to. The kid that took our order let us know our order would be next for them to make, but couldn’t give us an ETA. I went back to the window to see if they could cancel our order and give us a refund, and no one would come to the window. So I went to the inside counter and asked a girl nearby if we could please get a refund because we needed to go. Brittany, the shift manager according to her shirt, came over to the register, doesn’t apologize or even look me in the face, just asks the employee for the ticket to refund. She tells me it’s been refunded, so I ask her for a receipt for the refund and she says she doesn’t have one to give me. Still no apology for the wait. I tell her in the future a heads up on a long wait time would be helpful, and her response is just that well, they are busy. Read moreI first discovered this place in St George Utah. A couple times a year, I go to St George with this place being one of the main reasons. These are the most delicious treats ever, in my opinion. The vanilla custard layered with Italian ice is seriously "To Live For". This last week, I found out that there are other Zeppe's Italian ice locations. This one is actually closer to my house, it was like Christmas when I found out that Springville really has a Zeppe's. I absolutely love the Frozen custard and Italian ice combination, and these guys know how to do it right. Customer service at all the locations that I have now tried (St George, harrisville, Springville) is superior. The consistency in all three locations was amazingly on point. This new location in Springville is a very neat building with some great outside eating options. The drive-thru is nice and it was a great experience. I'm pretty sure this will be on my weekly stop list. Such a delicious treat on a hot day!... Or anytime!
