Unfortunately, this isn't Jack Parker's, O'Connell Pub of old. It may look the same and the food is even close but the bartending is just plain horrible. So much so, this fella working behind the bar was so crude, rude, boisterous, unrefined and well south of ignorant. Billy Bob Thornton's role in Bad Santa came to mind with dealing with this individual -all the crass without any humor. During our last visit over the weekend (and I do mean last), this bartender openely made fun of my wife's beer choice in front of all patrons seated at the bar. Who does that? Never the classy bartenders of past, that's for sure! Going on, I asked him a few questions all of which were softball questions. For instance, "what are we listening to?" a genuine, sincere question because it wasn't quite like the jazz tunes from before, it was more of a jam band sound that I liked as well. His respond was short and curt, "I don't know, some of the lamest, worst, overplayed jazz music ever" was this guys response. Little do I know of this fella but I seriously doubt if he has any understanding of jazz. Again, an off putting, immature comment. The food thankfully was good but there were some oversights on his behalf as far as supplying the correct condiments for our order. Even when asking for these omitted condiments this person still had a snarky response. During our time at the bar, 2 beers each, salad and 2 entrees, we noticed he served himself and a server two shots during our time. In addition to other attempts at humor which again were juvenile and crass, he went on discussing with another patron seated at the bar about how someone gave him a bad review openly for all who were seated at the bar to hear! Not to our surprise, the patron and barkeep referred to each other as "bruh". This kind of conduct from a bartender at O'Connell's is not what made O'Connell's, O'Connell's for all these years! Our visit was on a Saturday 3/2/24 late lunch, 2pm-ish and this lack of decency and decorrum is still sitting foul with me and the current owners need to know if they don't already, that this version of O'Connell's is off its axis. For me, half or even more of the allure to O'Connell's was the classy, dignified, attentiveness of its servers. Lets face it, good burgers, soups, sides can be had at a lot of establishments. A classy, dignified heir that O'Connell's used to offer is a bit more hard to replicate. Since new ownership I've been there better than a handful of times, unfortunately, it wil be a while until I can wash this bad taste out of my mouth for a...
Read moreWorst experience of my life..... I have always enjoyed the food. My one and only complaint is they have the worst customer service I have ever seen. My wife, son and I sat down at a booth. It took 15 minutes for the waitress to even acknowledge we were there and it wasn't even busy. Then she took our order and after waiting 5 minutes, and watching other customers get their order My wife got the servers attention and kindly asked for our drinks. The waitress threw her hands up in the air and yelled (I'm getting them twice before walking away.) Instead of calling her over and telling her how disrepectful that was I ignored it and ate my food. She never came back to the table until it was time for her to bring us the check and my wife calmly told her it was disrespectful to yell at a customer from the other side of the floor and she made even a bigger scene. This is a lady who also claimed to be a manager at the establishment. I walked up to the bar to talk to the manager behind the bar when she followed us up and would not shut up long enough to explain to the manager what was going on.In the mean time i had some crack head missing half of his teeth trying to defend the waitress by bad mouthing my wife... All the while the manager behind the bar is doing absolutely nothing. I'm in customer service , if that would have been my job , I would have been fired and if she is a manger there they need to figure out what is more important , customer service or keeping a waitress in her 50's trying to dress like shes in her 30's that claims to be a manager when she's probably just a waitress that has never...
Read moreHorrible!!!! Waitress was rude to me when I told her I had a group of ten. We were seated at a large table that was next to wait staff prep area. My friend, who is a small person, sat at that end and side of the table was asked to move her chair in and did the best she could with the amount of room she had to maneuver in. She was no longer in the way of the wait staff but when a patron shoved her chair as he passed by one of the waitresses thanked him. The worst part about it was that they treated my friend like she had committed some offense when they are the ones who decide where the table should be placed. In addition to that, they wasted 3 foot of floor space with a huge armed chair at the other end of the table. If they moved it or exchanged that chair for another this would never be an issue. The bbq beef tips were tough and not very good. As you can imagine we had a sizeable bill plus an automatic 18% gratuity that we sorted out who owed what on our own and then we were followed out by our server who insisted that we shorted her even though we left $2 more than what was owed. Will never go here again and will strongly recommend that my friends and family avoid it as well. After reading other posts here, it is quite apparent that since their tips are guaranteed with large groups they feel safe treating customers with complete disrespect. The only good thing about this place is the busboy. He was a very helpful and...
