Vails Brothers Shrimp Chicken & Fish — Restaurant in St. Louis

This place is Mediocre at best!! Came here because I heard good reviews about this place and wanted to try it out. Think this was a mistake. Place is a cute little spot and atmosphere was great. Cashier was a sweetie pie and recommended things on the menu. I ordered the wings and fish plate and also the shrimp plate with fries. When we ordered cashier said about 15-20 min wait and that was fine but as I looked up it was way past 40 mins since we ordered. I asked how much longer and she stated since it’s made to order it takes a while, I mean that understandable but let customers know it could a little longer instead of just letting us sit there that long and no apologies. Now the food was no good at all. The fish was fried really hard where it was basically burnt and the chicken was only sweet with no heat and the fried looked like they were fried in day old grease. Unfortunately they tried to kill me with this food, and one of the workers made a comment that really bothered me. They blamed it on the fact that sometimes they have foreign employees cooking and they don’t cook like the “brothers”. I’d thought of giving it another try but after that comment, I’d just requested a refund. This is HIGHLY UNACCEPTABLE! Imagine if I’d not known how the texture of chicken is supposed to be. Be careful and always check your food prior to leaving. I’ll NEVER BE EATING HERE AGAIN. It looked good and smelled great. Until the RAW CHICKEN WAS IN MY MOUTH. My first time trying this out for lunch and was sadly disappointed. I really wanted to like the food here but I was not impressed. I ordered a catfish sandwich, onion rings and macaroni and cheese. The catfish batter wasn’t seasoned properly. The onion rings were ok. The macaroni and cheese was watery and runny. The menu said the Mac is supposed to be creamy but that was a lie! When I took it back, the manager argued that the Mac and cheese was creamy. I scooped a spoonful of Macaroni and cheese from my container to show him that the Macaroni and cheese was very soupy. He said he normally doesn’t take food back but allowed me to exchange the Macaroni and cheese for something else since it was my first time there.
