My favorite type of restaurants are those with country cooking, mommaw kind of menus. So this restaurant starts off on the right foot immediately with me. If you're looking for something along the lines of "made from scratch", you'll find it here.
I had their pork chops with mashed potatoes and corn. The pork chops aren't greasy which I appreciate and though there is some fat (for those that like that), it's all collected along one side of your chops, so it's easy to discard (if the fats aren't for you). So I'll say unless you like your pork chops greasy, they're a win for anyone who enjoys them. They are a little on the thin side, but you get 2 to an order, so it's a good portion, plus, you won't strain yourself to cut them up.
The sides I ordered were great and their biscuits are more than likely made from scratch. Which reminds me of their desserts. I tried a slice of the chocolate cream pie. I'm not sure if their desserts are made from scratch, but I wouldn't be surprised to find that out, really good.
I noticed most of the patrons I saw around me were older folks. In fact, this place was referred to me by an older woman I work with who told me she ate there constantly. This, to me, speaks volumes. You know when a restaurant is popular with an older crowd it must have value, by a certain age, we've tired out other places and we know what's good, lol.
Funny, the day the woman that recommended this place to me and told me that she ate there constantly, I went there and tried it for lunch. Completely unplanned, I was waiting in line to pay my tab and leave and I heard someone ask, "What did ya think?". Haha
My coworker had snuck in without my noticing and was seated behind a wall I couldn't see her from. I told her she wasn't wrong to recommended Dwight's to me. I told her I loved the pork chops I'd ordered. She told me she hadn't tried them before, but mainly because once she had tried the baked steak and gravy, she couldn't make herself order anything different, she liked it so much. So I know now, what I'll be ordering the next time I'm...
Read moreI was in this restaurant very recently and I arrived at 8:20 the waitress came and took my order, when my order was sat in front of me I did not see any steam coming from my plate. So I proceeded to take a bite of my food it was barely hot well I won't even say hot I will say lukewarm. I got my waitresses attention through another waitress, she came over and I told her ma'am my food is just luke warm, she then said to me well I brought the food out soon as it came up and then she said I don't know what happened but we are getting ready to close. That is absolutely unacceptable I could not believe that she had the audacity to say that to me. When It was way ahead of closing time which by the way is 9:00 she brought my plate back I'm sure it was slapped in the microwave. Then around 20 minutes till 9:00 another couple walks in. The lady who is a heavy set lady that had on a dark shirt and has short dark brown hair made the statement we got a table and also made the statement we close in 10 minutes. The gentleman turned around and said excuse me what did you say. She tried to cover up by lying to the man and telling him oh I was just getting you all a waitress and that's it. I went to pay my bill, and after I paid my bill I walked over and told these paying customers exactly what your lady at the front who is a plus-size lady said to your customers. Apparently no one gets any training and they can spew out their mouth just whatever they want to spew out. Your waitresses and your people behind the line are very disrespectful to your customers. If your business is open till 9:00 p.m. then you need to make sure that your food is hot and ready to serve up until 9:00 p.m. and stop telling people that oh we close in 10 minutes we close in 5 minutes or use the excuse you didn't get hot food because we're getting ready to close. All I can say people beware of Dwight's of Saint Albans. This place is full of rude...
Read more04/08/2022 I cant comment about day shift or sitting inside, but do not go to Dwights drive thru or pickup. I have loved this place for years but within last 2 years it has gone down hill, fast! They keep increasing prices while kitchen staff and wait staff can not get an order right. Gave them another chance tonight, and ordered dinner for pickup,... half order of food was what I got. Called and talked to manager and her excuse was they could only get frozen chicken. Did that mean that your kitchen staff could only make a half order? No answer. Wait staff looks at it and packs it, but wont call out kitchen staff on a bad order, but always asks if you want to tip. Stay away!!!
02/24/2022... Day crew seems to be good... but after 5pm... skip this place. Heard they raising prices that are already over priced for service and what you get!
