First time here, or for that fact, to a Penn Station East Coast Subs. We were pleasantly surprised! The first thing we noticed was that this restaurant was squeaky clean; even the bathrooms! There were two friendly staff that greeted us and gave us some time to look over the nice sandwich menu. I had heard that they had a good beefsteak sub, and I had to try it. My wife had a delicious ham and cheese on a grilled roll with lettuce, tomato, and mayo. She said they threw the ham on the griddle first, and it even beat the Jersey guys sub. My beefsteak had plenty of chopped steak, with some onions, mushrooms, and banana peppers. The cheese was baked into the cut roll first. It made for a delicious meld with the meat. Hands down, they use the best white rolls in the entire area. I found the mushrooms and banana peppers too overbearing every time I hit a bite of one. I will leave them both off the next time. It's too bad they don't offer regular green peppers. The seasoning was good and flavorful, but I always add salt, which I found most restaurants don't use except sparingly. We found that they also offer homemade large cookies at the register counter. We were too full for trying them now. Refills are available on the soda fountain drinks. The soda pop was dispensing with a good amount of syrup and not all club- soda-like and was a refreshing drink. I would recommend this chain as there's numerous around. This one is next to the Auto Zone parts store behind the local PD Station. Plenty of parking. Check out the photos for an idea how nice this store was. BTW: I'm on a journey to try beefsteaks in the Charleston area. This one is ranking high. I have many more to try......Mmmmmmm......

The first three pictures shows just one of the subs we ordered. I use the eat at Penn Station just about everyday some years back when I worked in Charleston. When they made the subs then, the subs were always full to the overflowing. We ordered two different subs that cost over $19 each and they came in with hardly no toppings at all. Just compare the first three pictures of the sub I received and what they advertised and you can see the problem. I will never buy another sub from Penn Station unless they can convince me a mistake was made in the making of my order.

Never get a bad meal here & the staff is friendly. I had the steak & cheese and my husband had the chicken cordon bleu sub. We both had a chocolate chip cookie--although I had to eat mine later because I was so full. The french fries are amazing, too, especially with a little malt vinegar. Highly recommend!

The first time I went to the Saint Albans location, they incorrectly made my sub. The second time I went, they rang up my food under someone else's ticket. It took someone different to get into the register and she gave me back the correct bills, then she shut the register and walked away. I didn't have the correct coins. Had to wait again for the correct change. She eventually came back and gave me my change. When I got my sub it was the wrong sub. Different person made the sub from the first time I went there.

The sub itself, when correct, was delicious. It's too much time and effort to get it right. I will drive to Charleston before I go back to St. Albans.

I have now been in this location three times. Every single time my food was wrong. Every. Single. Time. The joint was empty and every table was filthy. I had to clean my own table. The employees had time to talk, though.

Next visit. 6/17/22. Place is empty. Employees in the back talking - fan over grill is off. I order and go to find a seat and the tables are FILTHY! I commented on this the last time, but it's obvious you don't care about...

This place has always had the most fresh and best sub sandwiches my fiance and I have ever had.

Here recently I visited and apparently they didnt clean their grill good enough so there was literally BLACK juices on the bun. I asked for them to cook the fries a little bit longer so they would be crispy and they instead gave me already made, cold fries.

I called them after realizing what they did and they put me down for a replacement of both sandwiches and both fries. I went back in a few days later to redeem my replacement food. Once again, they didnt do the fries like I asked and the bread was cold.

I hadn't been there in a while and they had all new employees. They used to make everything fresh and right infront of you. They no longer do that with their fries. They act like McDonald's and make them ahead of time (probably to save themselves less work). But as far as I knew, that's how ALL Penn Stations were supposed to do. Make them fresh right infront of you.

I'm removing 1 star for their current service. I hope they change back to doing things the right way because they sure...
