Global Brew Tap House — Restaurant in St. Charles

I am giving two stars because I like the venue and beer selection. But the bar staff gets a ZERO. HORRIBLE service. These are the most apathetic bartenders i have ever encountered. Waited a good 20 minutes to be acknowledged after i arrived. There were less than 10 people sitting at the bar and a handfull of tables were full. 3 bartenders to serve an uncrowded venue, so no excuse. Every time we sat with empty glasses we had to go out of our way to wave our arms around and flag one of them down. And they were standing right in front of us, just pacing back and forth, counting money, drinking beer (which is completely fine as long as your customers are taken care of first), avoiding eye contact at all times so they wouldnt have to be bothered. In this kind of local bar they should be right on top of refilling nearly empty glasses, mingling with the crowd, having some friendly conversation...nope totally passive and uninterested. They are everything good bartenders should not be. After my friends left i stayed at the bar by myself for an hour and a half, and the staff still avoided eye contact and I was completely ignored the entire time. And I sat there the whole time with at least five or six empty glasses in front of me still from my friends who left an hour and a half ago!! The bartenders didnt even bother to take the stuff away. You would think when someone is alone they would at least occasionally make an attempt to talk or see if you want something, but nope it never happened here. They clearly dont understand that when bartenders are friendly, sociable, and proactive in serving drinks, they make alot more money!! Guess they dont care. I worked in the bar business for many years, and this apathetic (emphasis on PATHETIC) service is unacceptable. Owner needs to re-staff the place with some personality and quality. Early in the night my friend mentioned possibly booking the place for an event because of the free venue rental offer, but said NO WAY after experiencing the piss-poor service we had. We will not...

Somewhat disappointed with this establishment. I got some food for lunch and wanted to enjoy a nice cold beer with it. It says on google and on their door that they open at 1pm on Fridays. I arrived there a little after 1pm and they were still closed and there was no one inside yet. I called and got no answer. I decided to wait a little and see if someone showed up. I was about to go somewhere else and get something to drink, when someone finally showed up and unlocked the doors. I had to wait almost a half hour before they finally opened the place and by that time my food was cold. Not the best experience and they're a little pricey on top of that. The beer was good though, that's the only reason I even gave it 3 stars. That will probably be my last...

for newcomers ; This is a BAR that serves food , not a restaurant. If you are looking for an amazing and extensive selection of beers and bourbons, this is exactly where you want to be. If you are looking for a meal , manage your expectations and either bring outside food (they allow outside food) OR go elsewhere. I would guess that 100% of the 1 star reviews come from people who did zero research prior to coming and only disappointed themselves.
