I really did want to like this given it is not a chain restaurant, and we need more of these. Unfortunately, the flavor of our dishes were incredibly lacking. I felt like the rice had no flavor and tasted like straight white rice. The chimichangas also had no flavor, except for the queso on top. The chips and salsa were by far the most flavorful of our dinner. I am unsure if this is homemade or store-bought salsa. I did ask if the margarita was housemaid or if the mix was premade. I was told by our server that it was housemate. However, my Plane margarita on the rocks came out neon green. I am unsure if anything that is housemaid comes in a neon green color. I am not saying that it is not housemaid, but I’m thinking this is unlikely given the neon color. My friends quesadilla was unlike any I have ever seen. I have eaten authentic Mexican food before. Her quesadillas came out in fried corn Tortilla shells. She ultimately took out what was inside and ate that alone. Again, quite un flavorful.
In regards to pricing, the dishes are reasonable. However, their signature drinks are close to $20 apiece. Personally, I would not pay that.
The atmosphere is OK. They will need to have the elevator working for more people to have access to it. The stairwell is also tricky and can be quite daunting for someone who has balance issues, or who is quite young or old. Unfortunately, I do not see this restaurant surviving long, unless they do price modification for their drink menu, improve flavors on their dishes, and make their readily available...
Read moreWe made reservations for 5 only to be sat in a tiny, crummy booth in the back of the bar, right up against the dart board where people were playing darts. We did our best to look past the atmosphere because we had heard how wonderful the food was. When making a reservation, we thought there was nicer seating available.
Anyway, we sat down and our server was lovely but she was literally the only person tending bar, waitressing and running to change kegs etc. We sat and waited and waited and waited to order. We completely understood how busy she was and weren't in a hurry but the atmosphere for a nice dinner was just so poor that we decided to leave.
Before we left we noticed the menu looked amazing but we couldn't get past how uncomfortable we were and how dumpy the atmosphere was. They need new booths with dividers that go way up in between the booths so you don't feel like you are sitting down to dinner with strangers. Nicer lighting and moving the dart boards would help if the small nook in the back is the only option for dining.
I hope that one day, their great food can once again be experienced in the fine dining atmosphere that once held the space of the 3rd floor. We would have loved to enjoy the food but the atmosphere was horrendous.
We will try it again once the world is back to adequate staffing levels and the seating arrangements...
Read moreRough first visit for us. I was excited after looking at the menu and seeing positive recent reviews. We visited this past Saturday evening at about 8:50pm, I double checked on their Facebook page and saw that the kitchen was open until 10pm. We walked in the front door and were not greeted for 4-5 minutes. The host made eye contact with us awkwardly standing there (next to the sign that said "Please Wait to be Seated") probably 3 separate times and proceeded to ignore us while helping another guest who was finished eating and asking questions. Finally, the waitress/bartender saw us after the host left us standing there and cleared a table for us in the bar area. It was loud and a weird vibe. The food wasn't great, besides the fries. I can get fries anywhere....the waitress was nice at least!
None of the employees had a uniform or designated way to tell who worked there and who was a customer. Super strange. One of the women's bathroom stalls is missing a door. After seeing other people walk in and be directed upstairs, we were disappointed that we were obviously not sat in the actual dining room and instead in the loud bar area by the door. Not sure what's going on here but I was really...
