I have been loyal to this coffee house for the past two years religiously taking espresso shots after every lunch. I have also enjoyed their refreshments and eateries for the years. For this reason, I believe I qualify as a perfect fit to leave an accurate, though highly opinionated, review for this place. I say all the positives because I love this place, and I say all the negatives because I love this place. I strongly encourage some improvements for the coming years because this place has so much potential, already having the awesome interior, chill atmosphere and friendly staff members. Here are my breakdowns of Crave Coffee House:
Food - They have really good sandwiches albeit overpriced for the portion. I strongly recommend Chipotle Chicken Sandwich or Pepper Jack Panini, two of my all time favorite.
Coffee - They use mediocre coffee grounds and the general consensus among my colleagues is that the espresso shots taste a little bit burnt. There are no other coffee places nearby in walking distance to turn to so we just stuck with it for the past few years.
Staff - It's an interesting atmosphere here where you meet very very very nice staff members who are just genuinely good people and a very very very grumpy owner with some serious customer-service issues. I really have no idea how and why I get on her nerve all the time, but she would just constantly treat us in very rude and almost condescending manners. I really don't remember any wrongdoing on my part to provoke her that much except the time I filled out a survey sheet pointing out some possible improvements. I actually got an email back from her disputing whatever comments I left as if she wants to fight me in a courtroom or something. It really didn't seem like she understands that I like to give a detailed and sincere customer opinion because I really do care about this place. It's a real shame that I started feeling myself pulling away from this wonderful place with great memories and great people after all these years. Again, it's a big shame because Crave Coffee House has so much potential to grow with an awesome interior and VERY VERY NICE staff members in spite of being managed under a mean and...
Read moreThis place is beautiful, sweet and convenient. It’s Kaldi’s coffee products, coffee specials that rotate monthly and an array of breakfast, lunch, and non-coffee beverage options. Lately I have been grabbing oatmeal (includes fruit, maca powder, hemp seeds and pecans) and an iced latte. I see lots of students ordering frappes and bagels, too. Their lunch menu starts at 11am. Another plus — they have 20oz coffees. The staff are all helpful and kind but occasionally there is only one person working, but I am never in a rush so it doesn’t bother me. A note about accessibility — the front door of the church/cafe has stairs, but there is a side door that leads to the patio. I believe you would be able to navigate a stroller or wheelchair using that entrance. There is lots of room inside and outside to have a seat and enjoy your drink, your book, or use the WiFi to study. This feels like having our own secret Kaldi location. I’m really grateful they’re here. The website says they are non-profit and while I don’t 100% understand how that impacts their model, I hopeful I am putting my daily coffee habit to good use.
I think Seth makes a good point that it is housed in a church, there is religious imagery and Christian content present inside. I see why people may want to know this ahead of time to determine their own comfort level...
Read moreThe one thing I wish was known in advance: this is an active place of worship versus being just a coffee shop that just so happens to be in an old church. The religious symbolism everywhere could have just hearkened back to its previous use, but it was the Joy FM style music playing that marred the experience. So many other genres could be utilized that are so much more audibly pleasing... In the end, it's their place and can do whatever.
New (to me) coffee place in a repurposed building, and it's near somewhere I was already?? Gotta give it a try. I drove around for about 5 minutes trying to find a spot not covered by street sweeping that day, or that was parking for residents only... just to find in the end there's parking in back. Don't miss out on that point.
It's not a bad place... there was plenty of space to sit down, and ample outdoor seating if that's your thing, and the staff was kind...
