I don’t usually leave reviews, but my experience at Egg made it hard to stay silent. The food might pass for decent, but the attitude and energy from the staff left a sour taste far worse than anything on the menu.
In any business — especially in hospitality — one of the most important things you can do is thank your customers. A simple “thank you for coming” goes a long way. It’s a sign of respect. A sign that you value the people who keep your doors open. At Egg, that basic courtesy was completely missing.
No greeting. No gratitude. Just cold service and an atmosphere that made me feel like I was a burden instead of a guest. What’s worse is that this didn’t feel like a one-off moment — it felt like a culture. And if that’s the case, it’s a real shame.
It’s easy for businesses to start out humble and appreciative, but when they get a little buzz or regular foot traffic, that humility often fades. But no matter how “established” a place becomes, it should never lose sight of the fact that every customer matters — regardless of their race, nationality, or background.
Respect shouldn’t be reserved for certain faces or certain wallets. Every person who walks through the door deserves a warm welcome and a thank you. Without customers, there is no business. Period.
So here’s my honest feedback for Egg: bring back the basics. Gratitude. Respect. Humility. If you can’t serve those with every plate, no dish will ever be enough to cover the bad taste left behind.
Next visit was even worse
I’ve been a regular customer at Egg and have always enjoyed the food and welcoming atmosphere. However, my most recent experience was deeply disappointing and uncomfortable.
During my visit, I was assisted by an employee named Thomas, who treated me in a way that felt unusually suspicious—as if I were doing something wrong. He asked to reweigh my order and made the entire interaction feel tense and awkward. As someone who frequents this establishment, I’ve never experienced anything like this before.
Unfortunately, I believe this treatment was rooted in racial bias. It seemed that Thomas had little experience interacting with people of color, and his behavior toward me felt like a stereotype in action. It’s disheartening to be made to feel like a suspect instead of a valued customer.
This experience has changed how I feel about returning to Egg. While the rest of the staff has always been polite, the way I was treated this time has left a lasting impression—and not a good one. My name is Anjail, and though I used to come often, this visit...
Read moreupdated review I ordered the El Ranchero for pick up. It was not what I was expecting. Before going in on the food I must also state that it was pretty obvious when I arrived a few minutes after my scheduled pick up time they werent aware of my order. I had to wait for them to cook it while I was on my short lunch break. The menu description for this item does not have pico listed anywhere. It was covered in it. I'm not a fan of pico at all. It pretty much ruined the meal for me. This is not ideal. What about food allergies and whatnot? Does the menu descriptions not matter? Other than the pico the meal was bland. I added salt, pepper, and cajun seasoning to help it. I've now ate here a handful of times and this is the 1st time I've been overall disappointed in the food. I'll definitely keep coming here because generally the food is delicious. I still feel their service is lacking.
The food is amazing, the service not so much. I've eaten here twice, and both times, the service was off. Both times, the food was on point. The last visit, my friend and I were not greeted. We ended up at the bar. After the server walked past us a few times and made a drinks in front of us, they never made eye contact with us or let us know they'd be with us soon, etc. Eventually, I got their attention. A kid dumped pepper on the bar next to us, and I think the kid belonged to one of the workers. That's fine but unusual, I guess. Then one of the servers asked us how our food was. We told them everything was wonderful besides the egg was undercooked. The menu read "fried egg," but what we got was a sunny side up egg, and the whites were still very soft. His reply to that was "its good like that." Ok. Lol. But the food is so dang good. The drinks are on point, liquor, and taste wise. I fell in love with the chorizo tostadas here. I'm not a fan of compote typically, but the fruit compote on the French toast is out of this world! Not too sweet. I normally try to be more descriptive vs. opinionated on food reviews, but I can't tell you or remember exactly what was on my tostadas, etc. I just know it's damn good here. Last time, I had one of the hashes, although pricey is totally worth it! Despite the service being a little weird, I would eat here a 3rd...
Read moreSuper weird experience at egg today. We were sat sooner than our estimated wait so that was nice. Our server didn’t come around, so the bartender noticed and alerted him. The server came and took our food and drink orders, but then didn’t ever bring the drinks to us. Again, the bartender noticed we were waiting unusually long, and asked what we were waiting on. The host then brought us two of our 3 drinks. The bartender noticed again that we were waiting on something else, and ended up bringing the cup of coffee himself, letting us know our food was coming. Our food came out (someone from the kitchen ran it, and we hadn’t seen him run any food the rest of the time), and wasn’t hot but we’d been waiting a while so we didn’t say anything because we wanted to eat. Buuut they hadn’t brought us any silverware so only I was able to start eating as I had a spoon from my coffee I could use. The food was tasty (cornbread and gravy and pulled pork hash), but the portions were small for the price, I’d been kind of expecting to be able to take some leftovers home. The cornbread was very good but some seemed burnt. The bartender noticed we weren’t eating and brought us silverware. As we were eating , he and a different server came to our table to apologize, which was a bit odd since we’d never been talked to by this other server before. Then when we finished our food, yet another server came to our table to ask if we wanted our check, which we did. They alerted our server (who hadn’t been back to our table since they took our order), and he brought the check.
It was just a super weird service experience, as it felt we spent half the time waiting on something, and had 5 different people wait on us (not including our original server). The bartender and server both at the end offered us coffee to go, which was nice. 5 stars for the bartender and other staff being attentive, but the rest of it took it down a...
