I've been here quite a few times. It's very close to my house. Ive had some issues here and there, but I am not one to write bad reviews on small businesses unless there is a sanitation or behavior issue. And even then, it has to be pretty bad because I support small businesses.
I was the first customer to arrive for lunch when they opened. Even though there were no other customers in the restaurant, I was seated in the back by the kitchen door. Not ideal for anyone. Usually, those seats are reserved for the last people in the door.
I wasn't very hungry so I ordered some queso and an ala carte chicken enchilada. I did not want an entrée or combo order so I pointed to the menu to show my server what I intended to order. I told him chicken enchilada, and then he went to the bar 10 feet from me and told another server who I believe he was training "chicken enchilada".
However, when the order arrived, it was a cheese enchilada entrée with rice and beans. I explained that this is not what I ordered and he gave me a dirty look and stormed over to the bar a few feet from me and slammed the plate into the trashcan in front of me. Then he busted through the kitchen door and yelled in the kitchen. It was Spanish and he knew I would hear it. I don't know exactly what he said, but it was about me and it was not a compliment.
He brought the enchilada.I was afraid to eat it because of how he was acting out, but I did and I hope that nothing bad was done to it.
He did not say a word to me for the rest of the service. He just delivered my enchilada without looking at me and delivered my bill without looking at me and he collected my credit card without looking at me.
I don't care how close this restaurant is to my house. If this is man, who is in a position of training others is working at this restaurant I will not be back. I understand that restaurant employees tend to come and go, but I don't believe that this man is new here or leaving anytime soon.
Thanks for one of the worst services i have had in years. Read my reviews . You will see that I almost never write a bad one . But this was warranted. This bad server needs to get control of his temper! And accept responsibility for not paying attention.
By the way, I was the very first person to write a review of their restaurant La Catrina and it was a good review. I was also the very first person to write a review on this restaurant. It was also a...
Read moreupdate There is another bathroom at this restaurant! It's by the bar if I remember correctly. It's now been over a year, and the restaurant has NOT gone downhill like so many places do after opening. Just ate recently again with my husband. The margaritas we ordered were strong and delicious. My favorite order now is the Carnitas Burrito. It's smothered in their delicious queso and filled with yummy carnita. It's always busy. I'm clearly not the only one who loves this standard Mexican fare. Also the service is always good. Kudos to yall!
I've eaten here already 3 times in the last couple of months, and that's saying something! I love the atmosphere here. The decor is so pretty and stands out from the other Mexican restaurants. The service is friendly all 3 times I've been here. The drinks are so strong and so fairly priced that you can actually afford to drink. Seriously, the drinks are stout. I hope they don't change that up. I rarely drink at restaurants because it's way overpriced and made weak. The menu is extensive, which isn't always a good thing, but for your basic Mexican, it's a good thing. They actually have chorizo on the menu. The chips are thin (the way I love), their cheese sauce (in all the peoples opinion who have had it with me) is better than others, every meal every person ordered was good, and again, the drinks are the best! I have a super picky fiance and cousin. I took both of them here, and they both loved it. My fiance even ordered tacos (something he has NEVER done) because they have more options on tacos than most places do. I also took my friend and she loved it. The last time I went, I ordered the fajitas, and the tortillas were super hard in the foil packets. I ended up taking it home and using my own. I ended up ordering 3 different meals here, and all were great!
My only complaint is the bathrooms. There is only one for each gender and this place is huge. Just make both bathrooms unisex. Me and another girl both used the mens bathroom anyway to...
Read moreI have been there several times. The food is excellent. Sorry, but I do not buy the story one poster wrote that they got food poisoning. It has to to be a rival restaurant. This place is always crowded. I have a friend who always gets the shredded chicken..never a problem. The only problem there is the music is too loud. The decor does NOT need a redo..it looks great in there. The food is the best Mexican food around. I hate refried beans, but I like the refried beans here. Give the place a try and make up your own mind
This is an update from my last review..I have been there several times since and would give those visits a great review, but my last visit, I would give only 1 or 2 stars. We got there before any other customers and had a waitress who had just started that day. Other people came in after us. Both of those tables, with other waitstaff, got their food first. We finally got our food, but it was lukewarm because of this waitress not picking it up in a timely manner..and we were not the only ones this happened too. We asked for the check and waited and waited, asked again..three or four times..even had another waitress ask her..she still did not bring the check. Finally after a long time of this she brought it. Another customer asked for the manager and we ended up talking to her outside the restaurant. She was very upset at the bad service. You are going to lose business if you keep this waitress on your payroll...I don't know her name, but as I said, it/ was her first day. I will ask for someone else if she is there when I go back. We are going back today, July 5th. I am very hesitant if the waitress I mentioned before is still...
