Went into Nick’s after the St Pat’s Parade yesterday so a few of us could use our Pub Pass for a beer. We ordered a meal, apps, and additional beers on top of the beers we ordered for the pass. When we asked for the tab, the waitress told us since we used the Pub Pass, we got an additional beer because it was BOGO. Maybe it was my misunderstanding because there were countless other specials going on for St Pat’s, but when I clarified I was using my Pub Pass and already had our free beer, she assured us we could still get another one. I thought it odd, but again, assumed it was some special for the day. When she brought out the last round and the tab, I noticed we were charged for the second round of beers. I asked the manager on duty about it, because I had already clarified with the waitress. The manager said that in order to use the Pub Pass, we had to buy an additional beer. Confused once again, I asked her to clarify because in the two years we’ve had Pub Passes, I’ve never been told I had to buy an additional beer to use the pass. She told me that Nick’s has done the pass for the last four years and that those rules came directly from Pub Pass. She then immediately asked if I was just trying to get “six free beers” and I said that I wasn’t, I was simply trying to understand the bill. She goes “I’ll just give you the other beers for free, since that’s what you’re wanting me to do”. I once again said, “no, I’m not and I’m not trying to be a b*tch, I’m just saying I’ve used this at countless other places and I’ve not had to buy another beer nor did the waitress explain it clearly when she said we could have another one for free” to which she replied “that’s exactly what you’re being” and then backtracked to say she didn’t mean I was being a b*tch. I have no issues paying for the drinks I order, but I do have issues with shady service and rude employees. In reading other reviews before posting this, it seems I’m not the only person both have happened to in recent months. I will not be returning to Nick’s.

This was my second time in last few weeks . We went there on a whim after going to Forest Park and remembering my daughter telling me about this place and cheap food. It's actually part of historic Dogtown area. The first time we didn't know what we were getting so I just ordered a bunch of stuff of the menu. The second time we had a craving to go back so we knew exactly what to get . During local sports games on tv they have a bunch of specials going on . The only thing I knew I was wanting was the potato volcanoes, but we also got three different flavored wings 30 in total, cheese garlic bread which was both on special on Saturday, and a large pizza . Chase it down with some cold draft beer and it was just as enjoyable as the first time. The food kept on coming and the big screen added to the touch. I was told it was a college bar ,but there was groups from ages twenty's to sixties. Now I do want to inform people being a bar they do allow smoking, which could be deal breaker and it's on the smaller side. Overall, this is definitely on my list of favorite bar restaurants in the city now and I see us returning over and over .

Stopped in at Nick's Pub after being guided that direction by the staff at FELIX PIZZA - since everyone was closed or closing in the area and we were looking for dinner. Nick’s stays open until 0100, so we had plenty of time to not force the kitchen staff to rush. A very neat corner pub on the edge of Dogtown. There were only a few patrons there, the staff were helpful and friendly. The walls are decorated with sports paraphernalia. The sign on the wall says they have karaoke on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Outdoor patio seating available, along with a game room. Started off with an order of ravioli - beef. Great flavor. I opted for the cheese quesadilla off the appetizer menu with the added chicken. It was packed with chicken. Made for a great meal. The other option at the table was a burger.with chips. Thumbs up all round. They have coke products an added bonus for those of us who do not drink. Coke is the only soda option, IMO. The food was good and worth a visit. I was there in an off night after 9:00, so cannot speak to the crowd or noise level.

BLACK WOMEN BEWARE OF THE WORKER NAMED TEDDY. This “black owned” pub is discriminatory against black women.

Explanation below.

My three friends and I came into this establishment 3/29/24. The vibes were great and about thirty minutes in we danced and vibed with other patrons. My new friend that I had met that same night suggested this club.

I hate to do this, but have to mention that out of the four of us, two were white and two of us were black.

Everything was fine at first and we danced and listened and tolerated the white boys that were clearly beyond intoxicated but still kind and non-agressive.

My friends and I were seated at a table and listening to each karaoke performance I danced and cheered the singer(s) on.

There was a time where I leaned against the table and danced, a man (which I thought was security) came by and told me not to dance against the table to which I apologized and refrained from doing so going forward.

There were no issues after that and 15 minutes after my friends decided we to go up and relax near the patio upstairs.

After sometime up near the patio one of my friends and I went back downstairs to get another drink and I busied myself flirting with a tall brown haired guy, patiently waiting for the bartender and my friend comes up to me and tells me that I’ve been cut off.

This was a lite drinking night for me and I only had two shots within the hour we’ve been there. I was confused but complied with what she said and we went back upstairs. The bar up there was too crowded and I let the want of having another drink go.

Twenty minutes later my other friend Shay and I agreed to go to the bathroom together and made our way down the stairs and at the same time two employee’s (if they aren't enployees then they were patrons carrying full cases of beer up the stairs) were heading upward with cases of beer in their hands as we descended downward. One of the men completely dropped the case of beer that tumbled down the stairs and burst. We asked if he was alright and he said he was fine and we continued on downstairs to the bathroom.

I did need use the facilities but also wanted to ask the newer bartender (the same guy that told me not to dance against the table) why he cut me off when I was tipsy at best. I let my friend go to the restroom first and asked another staff member to ask the (what I assumed) to be the bartender why he cut me off and he said ok he’ll ask.

Not even two minutes later two police officers walked up to me and told me I need to leave the bar. I was confused but knew it was complete bull when they told me I needed to leave. The guy obviously called told them my description and what I looked like for them to come up to me and tell me I needed to leave. I explained the best I could in the loud environment but

You know the Katt Williams skit/stand-up where he said “Your white friends will stick for you. They’ll get a call at 3AM about you being locked up and the first question they’ll ask would be ‘well what did he do?!’.” Thats how one of my friends was when talking to the cop outside and due to her being on medication she was the only one that didnt drink at all tonight and the cop told her “don't yell at me”. Ugh.

Once we explained that she was just passionate about the blatant discrimination I endured he understood and still agreed that he believed I wasn't drunk or irate to the point of Teddy asking for my removal. We complied and left and I will never go to this bar again.

I will be filing a lawsuit against this establishment.

BLACK WOMEN BEWARE OF THIS BAR AND THE WORKER NAMED TEDDY (who claimed to be the owner) if I’m wrong then pull up and post all of the key footage that warranted Teddy to have me removed. THERE IS NONE. I wasnt drunk or acting wild, but overall the officers had to agree to what the...

Nick's Pub has an ample and eclectic tap list of both craft beer (local STL mainstays, Bells, Deschuttes, etc.) and mainstream options (ABI products, Stag, PBR, etc.), altogether it is one of the most inviting lineups I have run into. On top of that the prices are great, $3-5 for some excellent pints, nothing over $10 for even the premium kegs. It is hard to find beer bars which decide to keep their prices so low, beer inflation is everywhere these days.

The ambiance is that of a typical Irish pub with the addition of wall-to-wall TVs playing every sports game you could want. Perfect for catching a game with the guys. While I didn't go upstairs it sounded like there were bar games (perhaps a pool table by the banging noises above us) and other entertainment to be had.

We were getting food with our drinks and our server was very attentive and friendly. The menu was pretty extensive all things considered and offered a variety of sandwiches, wings, pizza, and other pub entrees. The food itself was a letdown, even with my low expectations. I ordered the southwest chicken bowl and instead of the Taco Bell rice bowl I anticipated I received a classy porcelain bowl. It looked great! It had a sour cream drizzle over blackened chicken strips on a bed of rice, beans, and corn in a spicy ranch sauce. The chicken was well cooked and was very tasty... at least for the final seconds my taste buds were alive! They put soooo much spice on the chicken that after 4 strips I was gasping for water. It may sound like I am a wimp when it comes to heat but I douse my breakfast burritos in siracha on a daily basis and love me some spicy wings. After a quarter of the dish I was done and almost out of beer while trying to put out the five alarm fire in my mouth. My girlfriend offered the rest of her BBQ chicken sandwich much to my gratitude. I wasn't really impressed by that either. It was flooded with Kraft BBQ sauce to the point it was oozing out the sides. Oh well, I suppose I should give them a nod for trying to do something different from fried food.

My last gripe with Nick's, and that which will discourage me from going back for the great beer, is the fact that they allow smoking. I have been to better ventilated bowling alleys! We spent 30 minutes there and I can still smell the stench of an ashtray as I write this review. Forget about getting the aroma from the Bell's Hopslam you just ordered, all you get is ashes in...
