I took my Father to the Delmar location this past Saturday for Father's Day. After seeing pictures and hearing about the place I thought we were in for a treat. Well after finally getting a chance to eat there I can say it did not meet up to the hype and would not recommend that location.
When we arrived the staff member who seated us was probaly the only thing good about our experience as far as customer service goes. Now our waitress was a different story. Not sure why she was so intimated but you could tell she was not comfortable serving us, we found out later she was new. She was dressed like a Hooters waitress considering this is suppose to be a five star restaurant and upscale just wouldn't have expected that. The whole time she is mumbling and we can barely hear her. When she first came to the table she never greeted us or asked was this our first time here, or told us about the Chef specials. We had to ask her could she clear dishes so we could make room on the table.
As we were wrapping up to leave she ran our receipts but forgot to add the 20% gratuity that they add automatically. As customers we thought it wasn't added since we split our bill. Well I watch her and another lady keep going back with our cards at the register and knew it was something wrong. The lady who apparently was the manager( had on an orange dress with a coach fanny pack, based on how she looked definitely didn't think she worked there much less a manager) comes to our table and says I am sorry but our waitress is new and doesn't know but she wanted us to be aware when we saw the recipts they added the 20% to our check. Coming over and apologizing did not change the fact that we were given receipts with one price then charged a different price without even seeing our bill first. They just ran our cards with the new price and brought us the receipts to sign. Then to tell us our waitress is new didnt make the situation better and actually reflects bad on management. This waitress had no one watching or training her when clearly she lacks training and etiquette. To the manager as someone who is in management sometimes you have take your losses especially if you want to keep and attract customers.
The establishment is small and needs a makeover in my opinion it just wasn't what it was hyped to be. Menu is small with basic options, you can make this stuff at home for half the price, they didn't have anything that popped or was unique. Definitely not worth the price.
I see they have a location Downtown STL maybe that's better. I just know our experience was not good and customer service was not a priority. I hated my Dad had that for his...
Read moreI was so excited to finally get to try Prime 55 because I had heard varying reviews, some good and some great. I had the worst possible experience ever. We met for a large party on October 22nd and were seated in the basement. About 20 minutes into our gathering there was a roach crawling on the table. Then he moved above our heads and one of the men in our party killed it. I tried to move past that, and we all placed drink and food orders. Before the food came out there were roaches on the walls and ceiling in the space where we were seated. For the second time, I advised our waitress Ms. Pierre and she tried to handle the situation. I was mortified watching this young lady grab roaches with napkins as we waited for our food. The manager came over and explained that the apartment upstairs had recently been vacated and that is where the roaches came from. They were literally coming out of the woodwork in the basement area. When the food finally I arrived, I refused it and let them take it back to the kitchen. I could not imagine eating after watching roaches crawl all around our table. Then when we were ready to depart around 8:00 pm, I tried to use the restroom in the basement, there was no toilet paper and no running water. I will state that Ms. Pierre was the consummate professional. I would return just to be waited by her. She was gracious and held her composure when the situation became uncomfortable. I'm writing this review because I have tried calling the restaurant to explain to the GM/Manager what my experience was and no one has bothered to return my call. I wanted to support this black owned restaurant. I wanted to love this black owned restaurant, but unfortunately, I cannot. Management needs to do better. your lack of response prompted...
Read moreOne of the worst dining experience. We decided to have breakfast before checking out of our hotel. We checked in and were told they don’t have high chairs for my 1 year old. We made it work but really? We have been to very fancy restaurants that still have a high chair. When we sat down we ordered coffee and the kids meal while we looked over the menu for ourself. After a long while our waitress came and apologized that she had been distracted and forgot to come back for our order. Mind you there were only 3 other tables in the whole restaurant at the time. But we were having a lazy morning so we didn’t take too much notice. But as we continued to wait we realized something was wrong. Our coffee cups had long been empty and we still had no food. Our waitress (although very nice) had disappeared. The “manager?” stopped by to ask how everything was. I told him we still didn’t have our food. He went back in the kitchen and a few minutes later came back out and avoided our table. No update whatsoever. Several minutes later the waitress came back over thanked us for our patience and saying our food should be out soon. We asked for coffee refills. She disappeared again to the point that I almost went behind the bar to get coffee myself. At this point we had been in the restaurant for over an hour with no food and no actual updates. We thrust some cash down and packed up and left having never actually had anything. My toddler can say the toast was pretty decent. Things happen and we get that. But as I told the manager on the way out, communication is key. Very disappointed. Does not belong in a higher end hotel. Hotel management...
