I took my daughter to the Thursday 6 PM drop-in trial cheer class at Apex on 5/29 and I have mixed feelings about our experience.
On the positive side:
Facilities:The gym itself is impressiveâclean, spacious, and well-equipped. Itâs a great environment for gymnastics and cheer. Staff: The front desk and general staff were friendly and welcoming, which I appreciated.
Athletes: The other athletes at the gym were very talented, and it was inspiring to see the skill level and dedication they showed.
However, I was very disappointed with the instructor who worked with my daughter. During warm-ups, he was on his phone and didnât engage with the students. When it came time for individual back walkovers, he skipped over my daughter every timeâjust waved her off instead of offering an alternate movement or guidance.
What stood out even more was that another young girl in the class actually tried to help my daughter, giving her tips on how to do the exercises and walking her through the movementsâsomething that should have come from the instructor. At one point, this same girl even went up to the instructor to ask for help with my daughter, and the instructorâs response was simply to tell her, âSheâll just have to try her best,â without offering any actual help.
This left her feeling discouraged, especially since it was her first time at the gym. As a parent, I want my child to feel supported and encouraged, especially when trying something new like gymnastics or cheer.
I hope the gym can work on providing more attentive and supportive coaching, particularly for beginners. It makes a big difference when kids feel seen...
Read moreItâs a âshut up and cheerâ kinda vibe (that goes for the kids AND the parents). Did not have a good experience at this place. I must be honest. When I explained to the owner my child was unable to wear the makeup they sell due to a medical condition, she demanded I not only provide a doctorâs note, but that my childâs doctor violate hippa and disclose the specifics of my childâs medical condition to prove it to her. Additionally, the young man who is the receptionist is rude and condescending. His offensive behavior is encouraged rather than reprimanded. If you or your child are free thinkers or have any kind of unique differences this is not the place for you. For this mess to cost three times what it cost to be on a public school squad my expectations were much higher. On a competitive level the teams...
Read moreMy daughter loves this place and the coaches are very patient and supportive towards the children.when I first did my trail , I had questions and some issues with billing protocol but the owner was willing to speak to me and find a remedy for it. This says a lot about this business ! Lots of adults canât address mistakes( let alone business owners) but she was willing to. I am very pleased with how things were handled and feel as if this gym carries integrity and respect for patrons. Would...
