Dos Amigos is a storefront type place in a small strip mall. We ate here by default - our first two choices are closed on Mondays - but Dos Amigos was close and the reviews were very favorable. We were more than slightly surprised at the decor when we entered the restaurant. The back bar display is impressive. I didn't take a good look at the area immediately adjacent to the bar so I don't have much to say about the space. There is a half wall separating the bar area and a larger space in which there were three tables that could seat a party of 8 easily as well as several smaller tables. In terms of ambiance, think '50s kitchen tables and chairs. The menu actually is intriguing. It isn't your usual chain Mexican restaurant being offered. They do offer tacos and enchiladas a la carte and as combo plates, but they also offer interesting seafood choices and combos that include pulpo (octopus), calamar (squid), camarones (shrimp), mejillones (mussels) and more. We ordered the guacamole appetizer and were brought a side dish until I asked our server if the tiny serving was $15 worth of avocado, etc. Minutes later, we received our appetizer portion of guacamole. I like my guacamole to have some presence - you know, a little bite and some chunkiness - like mix in some pico de gallo with your mashed avocado. My son and I each ordered a Pacifico beer. The server brought us the 22-oz mugs. He had not asked us if we wanted the smaller size or the size he brought us. Bad form, buddy. The food is good, generally speaking, but considering that this place is located in this somewhat obscure strip mall and that the decor is '50s kitchenette, it very much overpriced. However, all of what I have offered here is not my biggest criticism of this place. When the check was brought, I saw that there was a 3.25% adjustment for paying with a debit or credit card. Our server never asked if the bill was to be paid with cash or with a card. In addition, there was a 15% "service fee" adjustment. When questioned, I was not given an acceptable answer. This automatic adjustment also was not mentioned. I told one of the two servers that the owners are screwing the servers. After seeing that I had been charged 3.25 % + 15% and knowing that the servers are being paid $15/hour, I had no motivation to add an additional tip. To the owners: Your game is seriously weak. You should upscale your space and quit screwing...

Went to dinner early and not very busy so service was very good. I will check the bar next time but it did look like it had a large selection and variety of options. I did not see any fountain drinks so water was the only thing we had.

The food: starting with the chips and salsa, the salsa was very good. I normally like that and keep some for the meal in case the food is bland.

This was definitely was not the case. The carne asada was well prepared and a large serving. The fajitas, while not as large a portion, still good.

They forgot the guacamole and had to be reminded but it was well made. (Some places are very bland, this was not.)

Not sure if the appetizer serving is worth the price, but that would depend on serving size.

Will be making another stop and highly recommend you do so also.

Though the tortillas were not special, they were adaquate for the very...

We wanted Mexican food tonight and wanted a sit down restaurant that was close to home. This place came up on a Google search. The menu looked good so we decided to give it a try.

Fast service to be seated. They brought us a basket of fresh chips & salsa. We asked if they had a spicy salsa and they brought out 3 more. They were all delicious so it’s hard to tel which was our favorite. Either the dark red which had a smoky flavor or the orange one that was creamy yet spicy.

I ordered 2 shredded beef tacos, my son got 2 fish tacos and the hubby got tortas. We all inhaled our food. It was very tasty. I would suggested different lettuce. I like mine shredded, less of a salad.

One of the family members came over and introduced himself and asked if it was first time there. Very nice staff, love the vibe and we all agreed it might be our new go to for local sit down...

#1. The Best Quesadilla I've had in SoCal ever!! I chose the steak Q & they seasoned & grilled it to perfection. Nice size pieces of meat too. The [big] dollop of sour cream was enough to be added atop every bite. The red salsa was really tasty as well, with just a little bite to it, not too much. Perfection!! #2. Ditto on the Burrito Mom ordered! She wanted the chicken and there was plenty stuffed in there. #3. The Service is excellent!! #4. The Atmosphere I bet would be amazing. I have to get back to you on that as my order was to-go at the end of the evening, right before they closed. (Excited to go back and try one of their signature cocktails.) #5. Went back. Love the staff! Always smiling. Loved the drink (pictured Mai Tai) & Loved the dinner (pictured Mixed Fajita). #6. TBC
