Kra Z Kai’s Laotian Barbeque — Restaurant in Stanton

This week, we explored Kra Z Kais BBQ, snuggled inside Rodeo39 Public Market. Located in Stanton, CA, right off the 22 Freeway. This is Orange County’s latest hangout spot. If you are from Southern California, you must be familiar with Anaheim’s Packing District or Long Beach Exchange (LBX) - The Hangar. Rodeo39 is no different and a great place to bring a date to dine and drink. At this location, there is ample parking, clean modern restrooms, and outdoor dining patios to catch some fresh air and summer rays.

Kra Z Kai is serving up Loatian-style barbeque that’ll knock your socks off. Each plate entrée comes with your choice of steamed rice or fried rice and a side salad. I opted for the sticky rice, which is a Lao staple and must be eaten with your hands. You grab a piece of sticky rice, roll it into a ball, and use it to sop up sauces. I couldn’t decide on what items to get, so I got their Lao BBQ Mix plate. It comes with your choice of BBQ Chicken Wing or Thigh, BBQ Pork Rib, Lao Sausage and their BBQ Beef Short Rib.

Southeast Asian Cuisine harmonizes sweet, salty, sour, spicy and umami, which Kra Z Kai is doing with their Laotian marinade. Each meat item was grilled to perfection. Their meats were tender, juicy, rich, smoky, well-seasoned and well-marinaded. Instead of their side salad, I got their papaya salad, which paired well with sticky rice. Their papaya salad was nice and spicy, balanced with sour and salty to help cut the rich, fattiness and sweetness of their barbequed meats.

Kra Z Kai was high on flavor and low on price. The quantity and quality of their food will leave you filled and satisfied, without your pockets feeling empty. The BubbleGutGuys give this place a combined average rating of 3.75 out of 5 guts. If you are in the neighborhood, give this place a try.
