So Canada doesn't have a lot of these public market style food courts (which seem to be more prevalent in the states), especially not in Alberta, so I was absolutely blown away and in love with Rodeo 39. I think I really have just loved EVERY public market style place I have visited in states thus far, to be honest.
From the outside, especially at night, the neon lights of the market immediately pull your attention in as somewhere you would want to check out. The market is super clean and well maintained and there are several (very instagramable) murals. There is lots of ample seating both inside the market and outside in the front. The inside seating is located more in the middle and between the craft beer vendors so a great place to chill and have some drinks with friends while getting food.
I loved how many different selections of food there was. There was literally something for everyone - Coffee and doughnuts, ice cream, pasta, pizza, onigiri, Japanese curry, Pho, Asian fusion, Hawaiian, Burgers, beer and so much more. I was especially pleased to find Tenori and the Japanese curry vendors. I'm not gonna lie, I ate at both places twice during our vacation cause I just couldn't get enough of their food.
There are also a couple of little shops in the market. There was a clothing store and a Japanese novelty store. Oh one extra fun feature in the market is the photobooth store. The store is located directly near the front entrance and has 4 large photo booths, which allow for customization of photos. We squished 5 people into our photos easily. The store also has props (think fun glasses, headbands, hats, etc) for people to use in their photos. We found this to be a really fun experience, especially for the kids and grandparents.
I think Rodeo 39 Public Market is one of the things I will miss the most from our vacay. Definitely go check it out for a bite to eat or if you are just lured in by the lights and open and fun style...
Read moreI am rating this from the perspective of it being a COVID safe dine-in experience. It very much is not COVID safe, I would say. Most people are wearing masks, but sometimes the employees (security guard...) have them pulled down below their chin. In addition to that, it is an eatery which pretty much necessitates having your mask off around others who have their masks off. Given this, I find the lack of strict social distancing guidelines in the seating areas to be truly appalling.
The front patio chairs are pretty much inches from each other when people are actually sitting in them, there is no control over the amount of people inside or sitting in the outdoor dining areas; it can get VERY crowded. Especially because they have a stage where live entertainment performs sometimes, where people crowd around to watch.
The outdoor side seating is very awkward, it's mostly just large wooden blocks with no place to put your feet underneath, so you have to eat while sitting sideways. Otherwise there are a lot of benches of similar construction, which also don't seem very convenient for eating, unless you like balancing your food in your lap. The few tables they do have don't really have dedicated chairs, so people move them around as needed, and you might not have enough seats for your table.
This would be a cool place to go after the majority of Californians are vaccinated. Before that, just order to-go if you really want to try the food here; this place is NOT SAFE and NOT...
Read moreI was really excited to take my friend here as we were celebrating our birthdays I was planning on having drinks dinner and then desert we go to the brewery order a beer and sit down and then I noticed there's going to be live music and I was like wow this is gonna be a really great night then they start to play and and it was so loud I mean so loud and obnoxious That when we were trying to talk we had to scream at each other I then said well even though this is my favorite spot to enjoy this place let's move away from the music so we start walking towards the entrance and then I see a table outside and we run to it and I get all excited and I sit down and then I realize that they are pumping the music even out there and it still was so loud and obnoxious and we just left. I saw a lot of people leaving so so I don't know who's making these decisions if we're gonna have music it's supposed to be like kind of a background music where people are just enjoying it but still able to talk to people and have a conversation what...
