Read moreWe visited last week this state park. The park itself is beautiful! I am just reviewing the lift in this review. We though the signs as to how to get to lift was very explanatory. The building for the lift was unfortunately closed when we went on the 19th of November. The gift shop and bathrooms there in that same local were also closed for the season. I took some photos of the lift from the ground where it goes 600 ft up and also from the top where we hiked up to the natural bridge and would have been able to get off lift had it been running. It starts up again in the spring April is what signs said. It looks so cool and we would definitely be interested in going another time when it is running.
Important details: The lift is a roundtrip ride or just one trip and walk the other half. It is a 3 mile hike from top of lift back to parking lot if you choose to just take lift up. The price round trip is cheaper than if you change your mind at the top and pay for one way back down. The route we took from different parking lot and back down without lift was about 4 miles round trip. The narrow stairs from the bottom of the bridge to on top of bridge may not accommodate all sizes and definitely not any wheelchairs. There are no bathrooms on the trail at this time of year We had to go to the kayak adventure check-in shop to use a Johnny outside. The Daniel Boone coffee shop also had a nice gift shop and clean bathroom. Hope these details are helpful! Enjoy...
Read moreThe lift was beautiful, the hikes were beautiful (although a little rougher than expected) but the people working the lift were the only people who were not friendly that we came across on our whole trip. We arrived at 930 and they complained to each other that they were selling tickets too early loud enough for us to hear, they made us wait while they set up (online it says the lift is open at 9:30. ) They were sitting around smoking instead of getting it set up and ready even though there were signs to not smoke. When I asked about the hike the older man working just growled and said depends on the trail you choose and didn’t offer any other info before walking away. The staff inside the souvenir shop were so nice and helpful and the people who we came across in all other places in the park were great but the sky lift workers didn’t even try to be friendly.
I would suggest if you have young kids or if it recently has rained to take the sky lift because it can be pretty slippery on some of the trails. If you choose to take it both ways make sure still to hike around to see all the beautiful places along the way! I was initially worried to go with my kids because it doesn’t look super safe but it was perfectly safe in my opinion and I was not worried at all...
