I am a sucker for anything sweet so of course I had to stop in after dinner today. The name Sea Salt just sounds lovely and this joint matches it's name. Outside the venue, there's rocking chairs so you can sit outside and enjoy your treat. It's quite welcoming.
Walking in, you are overwhelmed by all the beautiful baked goody on display. The cookies, key lime pie and banana cream pie all looked so good! Not too mention the carrot cake and the variety of ice cream that also flirted with you. All the treats looked so good! I was so full from dinner still but I needed something small. My daughter snagged a snickerdoodle and I got a small scoop of the dairy free orange ice cream.
My scoop of ice cream was huge for a small! I was actually hoping for a kid's portion cause of my fluid restriction but it wasn't an option. For a non dairy ice cream it was so good! It was tart, sweet and creamy. The orange flavor was not overwhelming. It was delicious. I was only able to eat about a third of it. I hated tossing the rest, it would have completely melted by the time I made it home.
My daughter's cookie was big! It was topped with a lot of cinnamon and sugar on top. So soft and chewy so it was hard not to eat too much of my daughter's cookie. I refrained from eating my husband's cookie that I got him. As good as my daughter's cookie was, I'm sure my husband's chocolate chip cookie is going to be hella good!
This joint is so cute! And they have so many treats here that it was so hard to pick out just one thing. The two gals that were working were working hard and really nice. The venue is bright and clean. I'm happy I stopped in. I look forward to trying the banana cream pie or the carrot cake the next time I come in. It's a drive to get here but...

On 6/4/21, I visited Sea Salt Creamery + Bakeshop in Star for the first time. At 6:40 PM on a Friday night, there was already a line out the door. I had to go on with the goal of buying a individual sized Olive Oil Citrus Cake, was told they don’t have them on the menu anymore. I purchased individual sized Carrot Cake and Chocolate Cake ($6 each) instead. I liked that both of the cakes were fresh-baked and nicely packaged. Both cakes were good, but I preferred the Carrot Cake.
I also tried a sample of their Rocky Road ice cream. It had great flavor and was not overly sweet. Most of the people in the store that evening were there for the ice cream. All of the ice cream is homemade. I like that they have a combination of traditional and unique flavors to choose from. In addition to freshly scooped ice cream cones, sundaes, milkshakes and floats, you can buy pints of ice cream and ice cream sandwiches.
Sea Salt Creamery + Bakeshop is a great new addition to downtown Star.

Read moreIce cream was great; experience was horrible. It was our first time in and we weren’t even greeted by staff. Staff looked annoyed and irritated that another person even walked in. We weren’t offered to sample any of the flavors and the staff didn’t smile at us once. The checkout experience was also unpleasant. Staff was short and and once again looked annoyed with us even being there. I was tempted to not tip but I didn’t want to respond to rudeness with rudeness. Even the people who checked out after us were treated the same. I understand how stressful it can be when you get a rush. I worked at a shop like this back when I was in college. But it never excuses rudeness or making customers feel like they are a pest. Perhaps they need better staffing for their typical summer rush hours. Won’t be coming back here again. Disappointed. Negranti is far better. Always properly staffed & kind during rush hours. I don’t typically leave reviews like this but it was honestly a...
