I’ve been in retail/hospitality management for 20 years, so I can’t help having high expectations of customer service everywhere I go. My family and I went out to celebrate the boys’ first day of school (not thinking about it being move in day at GSU). We ended up at Bites, right near campus. I have to say, I was SUPER impressed with this place! We were greeted by the friendliest and most welcoming ladies (Bri and Asjhia) who were in total control of the flow of customers, seating people and being so kind with ensuring everyone felt heard and seen. I found out later they were new in their role but you certainly couldn’t tell. They never seemed flustered or anything. All smiles the whole time! (You don’t always see that at Longhorn by the way). Even when it was close to closing time, there was still a wait and they couldn’t seat people anymore they still offered for the kitchen to make them to go orders and customers appreciated that, you could tell. The manager Tempriss was also AMAZING! I watched her checking on customers, the hostesses, the servers and kitchen. Having worked in restaurant I know how stressful it can be and she was directing the shift masterfully! Again, kind to everyone. Also found out it was one of her first closings and she was a true pro at it. So impressive! Matt L was our server, from Jersey, and he was super attentive, friendly and AWESOME at connecting with customers! The food was a amazing!!! Our experience here just reiterated what I know as a manager. During times where some places struggle to hire, just know that you never have to settle for people that don’t LOVE people or customer service. Don’t settle and just be happy that people “show up”. There is so much TALENT out there, and.the owners of Bites are so blessed to have a restaurant full of talented and kind people! The key is always treating your people like you’d want to be treated. I’m so thankful a business in the Boro is doing it right! Pay them well! Thanks for an amazing...
Read moreHorrible service. Waitress never introduced herself once, never made eye contact, everything handed to me in my face like it pained her to serve. Once my coworkers left, waitress interacted with every other table in her section except me.
Fastest response I received was when I asked for the check, which right after, my to-go box was tossed on the table (first item I asked for that was actually placed on the table) and she held out the bill payment device as if she didn’t want me to touch it. I hesitated to sign as I had a question about my bill, waitress decided to finish the transaction for me and then pretended to be surprised when I asked her why she did that.
I asked for a manager and was told I would get one, I waited 5 mins before going to counter only to find the waitress behind the counter leading a group conversation about me. Once I moved in to their direct line of sight, the waitress and her coworkers noticed me and tried to move from my line of vision by leaning around the window in the door. I eventually saw a manager who agreed that waitress was rude and apologized. I am very disappointed with the service and the level of disrespect.
Heard great reviews all day about this establishment only to dine and be treated like I just fell off of a slave ship. I’m aware of how far down south I am but my money is still green. Even if she felt I didn’t deserve common courtesy as a person, I damn sure do as a paying customer. The one star is for the bartender,...
Read moreStepping into Bites in the Boro was a truly pleasant surprise, and it quickly became clear why it's considered one of the nicest diner-like restaurants in town. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere struck me – it has this wonderful small-town diner feel, almost like a cozy European lodge, with a cool college/artsy decor that I absolutely loved as an artist.
The food selection, while focused on burgers, salads, sandwiches, and tacos/quesadillas, offers enough variety to satisfy any craving. Everything I've tried so far has been genuinely good. However, the absolute standout for me was their Fish 'n Chips. It was perfectly cooked and incredibly flavorful. I usually pair it with their well-seasoned fries, but their homemade potato chips are also a fantastic alternative. Beyond the main dishes, they boast a fairly large drink selection, with a particularly nice array of beers to choose from.
The service at Bites in the Boro is consistently top-notch. The servers are incredibly nice and friendly, frequently checking in to ensure everything is perfect without being intrusive. This attentive service, combined with the delicious food and unique atmosphere, makes for a truly enjoyable dining experience. Considering the quality and the overall experience, Bites in the Boro offers incredible value for the price, easily making it one of the best casual dining spots in the area. I'll definitely be back to explore more...
