Orchid Asian Restaurant — Restaurant in Statesboro

Being from out of town, and after a long week of work, this establishment was recommended to me by a few people. Looked them up and tried to go to the website ( none to be found- generic blank page) to see their menu. After not being able to see the menu from the review photos, I decided to call and place a to-go order. Fast and easy to place. I was told that the food should be ready on 15mins. Took me 20 mins to get there. Once I walked in, I was asked for my name on the order and they will be right back- upon returning, I was told they are still waiting on a part of my order to be finished. It was told the total and they took my card and they left with it to walk to the back of the restaurant. After a few more minutes (now going on over 30mins total) they return to the front and then proceed to tell me they do not take AmEx...."do you have cash" - I answered " no" , their response for "ohh, yeah, there's a fee with Amex, uhhh" .Really? - there is a fee for every card, but please freakn disclose what you do and do not accept as tender....and do not make people wait double time for what they were originally told just to turn them away for what??? $1.25 fee vs. $0.68 fee- So for that, I hate to even leave 1 star as it truly deserves negative stars....though the blackhole option...

Atmosphere is wonderfully chic and slightly upscale. I found it very warm and inviting as well as refreshing. The live orchids adorning the space were beautiful and one can really tell that the owners take great pride in the appearance of this establishment. We ordered Bento #2 with beef dumplings, a Hibachi shrimp and chicken dinner, Edamame Shrimp dumplings, as well as a Lobster Roll. The Lobster Roll stole the entire show! It was presented on a beautiful plate with garnishments of wasabi and sashimi! The rolls (I believe there were 8 or 10 pieces) were beautifully plated and the tail section of the Lobster was also adorned with salmon eggs and fried lump Lobster as well drizzled with a house special sauce! For only $14 per lobster roll - you really CANNOT go wrong! The sushi we had was AMAZING as was the aforementioned lobster roll! The Hibachi shrimp and chicken (teriyaki glaze) was perfectly cooked and beautifully seasoned. I would highly recommend making Orchid your next spot to go eat! The prices are more than reasonable and the entire dinning experience more than makes up for whatever your bill may be. In total our final bill was ONLY $53 and we took home SO MUCH FOOD! WHAT A GREAT VALUE FOR YOUR MONEY! By far the best Asian restaurant...

I absolutely love this place! The food is good and the staff is always friendly and polite. However, I frequently order takeout from here and the quality of the order I get can be inconsistent. Sometimes they forget vegetables or overcook the rice or give smaller portions than normal. Also, something has to be done about the way takeout orders are processed. EVERY SINGLE TIME I come to pick up, it is not ready. Sometimes I even wait an extra few minutes before coming in and I still end up sitting in the waiting area. I always have to wait on a hostess, then the hostess gets someone to get my receipt ready so they can take payment, then they come and take the payment and bring it back and sometimes at this point I'm still waiting for food. It seems like quite a few steps could be taken out of that process if the food and or ticket were ready on customer arrival. OR give more accurate wait times. It's very frustrating to be kept waiting everytime I come here. Still love this place and I'll be back but I'd love to see some changes and maybe be able to order from borotakeout so someone else can...
