Never book a wedding here. Too many details change depending on who you speak to. They refuse to do contracts because they desire to change details at the last minute. I felt pressured to have a larger wedding than I wanted in order to reserve a room that was promised to me with twenty less people by another person. If I would have had the amount of guests they wanted me to have in their space they would have needed to yank tables off the floor to dance. One hundred guests was packed incredibly tight to the space they say holds up to 130. My guests thought I had a cash bar half of my wedding, even though we paid for a full and open bar. Other guests were charged large amounts of money for call drinks when we were told guests would pay the difference and not the full price. Some people said they were charged for well mixed drinks, and thought we only had a beer and wine open bar. Very inconsistent. I would speculate that if the bartender wasn’t stealing money from my guests this business was. But the food is fantastic, just cater. Also, they will not allow you to schedule a rehearsal any sooner than two days before the event. When calling the day before the wedding (the day we had our rehearsal dinner) to confirm the room was still not taken, we called over five times throughout the day and left messages that were never answered. When my husband finally got ahold of someone she was shocked that we wanted to do this they day before the wedding, even though it had been a discussion for months. We definitely knew we were greatly inconviencing them by having a rehearsal. If you want to have a rehearsal scheduled you have to plan another full dining experience of fourty or more. Also wanted to park tables in front of doorways in second room and not allow me to walk through bar area so that I could walk down the aisle with my dad. Not to mention blocking the flow between rooms and seeming to be a fire hazard. Also, my guests complained to me about the heat in the receiving line, and I literally poured sweat most of the evening. It was so hot and jam packed, I wish they had proper ac to allow the guests comfort. I’m happy everything worked out considering and Joanie ran our event, thank God. If you consider this business for an event, work with Joanie (she...
Read moreThis is a old fashioned Italian place...newer building though. They do catering and banquets, restaurant and bar. It's clean, decor is good, plenty of staff. The hostess told me they had been in this building for 14 years, and it was probably new when it opened, but I know it was in another location forever. The staff was friendly. We got there on a Sunday after the Bears (late) game, so maybe 7pm. THE FOOD: We (party of 4) ordered calamari app, and they brought out some bread with do it yourself fixins for Bruchetta. A small bowl of garlic tomatoes and a small bowl of olive mix. Both were ok. I ordered the Angel Hair pasta with meatball, and I asked for an extra italian sausage. Split pea soup, and salad. The salad was sparse, but good. The pea soup was just ok. Sometimes the first time I'm at an Italian restaurant, I order pasta and meatballs with the theory that, if you can't make a decent spaghetti and meatballs, you're not gonna be good at Italian dishes. I wish I could say it was fantastic, but..... There was no meatball, only sausage. The Angel Hair was overcooked, and not drained well, the sauce was red soup..no flavor, no nothing. The sausage tasted like it had been cooked earlier, heated up, and mixed in to the pasta. Horrible. No meatball. How does that happen on a pasta and meatball dish? I dont know if it was because it was late on a Sunday night, and the kitchen was coasting, or if they just have an older clientel, loyal customer base who is ok with substandard dishes. My dining companions were satisfied with their (bland looking) chicken alfredo, lemon chicken, and eggplant pasta. They didnt look appetizing to me, but... they said they were "ok". But they are (don't tell them) older clientel who live in the area (I don't). The mens room was clean and looks good, but the floor was kind of slippery (greasy) as if they mopped it with the same water as the kichen. Parking lot is...
Read moreThe restaurant was an overall great experience. Calm and friendly atmosphere, welcoming hosts, good service, and great chicken parmesan and pasta (definitely beats Olive Garden’s). However, the waitress was kinda sloppy. Firstly, I told her straight-up that I wanted fried calamari (appetizer) but she pretended she didn’t hear me and just gave me the soup and salad instead. The soup and salad were awesome ngl but still I wondered about my calamari. I knew I said fried calamari loud enough for everyone at the table to hear, but still she was lacking. Lastly, she gave everyone a refill for their drinks except me. Nobody asked for refills but she gave everyone at the table another drink, except me. At least she was nice enough to give soup to everyone, but her service was rather mediocre than with actual care, and I feel like something personal was behind her forgetting or refusing to give me fried calamari and a refill. I thought waiters are supposed to treat all guests with inclusivity, and not refuse them of certain orders due to hidden biases. The carbonated drinks tasted like a mix of cough syrup and aspirin. I don’t know what’s wrong with that soda machine, but it needs to be fixed asap. Also, I didn’t get why the bread was served with shredded olives in a container instead of olive oil with herbs. It looked like cat hairballs in a cup and I wasn’t sure what it was at first. Isn’t the original Italian way of enjoying bread is with olive oil and herbs? Even though it’s overall a great restaurant and hosts were welcoming, there are a few inconveniences I think they should fix: beverages should taste like their original flavor and not like aspirin, waitresses should serve all and not refuse to serve certain guests due to hidden biases, and lastly bread should be served with olive...
