Ace Hardware in Steger — Local services in Bloom Township

So I always run here when I don't really feel like going to Menards because it's right around the corner from my house and it's just the convenience. I always go there and run into the same guy and he's always so helpful. Of course the other workers there are also just as helpful and friendly. This particular day I go in to get some more caulk and they were helpful as usual. I go to start my car & put my car in reverse it does not go because the gear shift button is stuck I tried to figure it out myself but I couldn't. So I go back in the store and I run straight to the guy who is always so helpful to me his name is Jimmy. So I told Jimmy oh my God I messed up my car gear is stuck can you please help me? he immediately grabs a screwdriver and comes out to help me and of course he fixed it just for me to get home. He also then tells me what it is that I need to do just in case it happens again but for me to be careful. If I could kiss him I would have lol he is always so willing to help and so friendly. I was so happy that he figured it out because I did not know what to do. It's nice to know that there are people who still will go over and beyond with helping people. He really did not have to do that. His job didn't require him to do that but he helped me anyway and that just shows his character. I was so appreciative and I kept telling him that and I promise I am definitely going to pay it forward. It's just nice to know like I said that people are decent and that just made my day. I went to Ace Hardware to get the supplies need to hang a canvas painting in my mother's room at a nearby nursing home. The painting did not have the teeth or string on the back. I also needed the command picture hanger to stick to the wall. Both Jimmy and a woman warmly greeted me. Then not only did Jimmy take me to the supplies, he recommended what he thought would work best. Then he actually nailed the teeth on back of the canvas for me. This was no easy task as the nails in the kit was short and his finger/thumb were taller. I was afraid he would injure himself but he figured a way to quickly get it done. Jimmy not only takes pride in his work, but he really cares about the customers. This was one of the best experiences I encountered in my 59 years at a store. Thank you Jimmy!!! When I couldn’t find a paint swatch in white I did ask and the gentlemen said that all Benjamin Moore white is premade and there is only one color white. He couldn’t be bothered any of the three men to check and to make matters worse I know that Benjamin Moore has at least 5-7 different white paint colors. I left without saying a word. The cashier on my last visit told me that she was not allowed to use the rewards coupons because her boss would yell at her. Today the cashier asked for my reward number and when I questioned why he said that you could use the reward coupons. The staff is lazy, inconsiderate, not knowledgeable and rude.
