Update: Today, we went back for dinner after a lukewarm experience several weeks ago. What we found is that the old Rodgers roost that we know and love did not disappoint. We ordered the Bavarian pretzels with the cheese dip. They were hot, crispy and soft in the middle. The beer cheese dip was thick, tasty and perfect for the pretzels. I also ordered The chicken tortilla soup. It was piping hot, topped with tortilla strips, and cheesy. It had a thick base, and was chunky with chicken and served with a dollop of sour cream. Both of us decided we would try the Power Bowl. I ordered the chicken and my husband ordered the Beef. The bowl was filled with meat, lots of vegetables on a foundation of rice. The rice was just so-so and kind of bland, the teriyaki sauce was clearly out of a bottle and just OK. I recommend getting the sauce on the side. Overall, the bowl was full of protein, crisp, clean and very healthy. It was a really good choice.
Service was attentive. Several people stop by to make sure everything was OK. The walls are filled With lots of eye candy and neon signs. Even the booths that are “high tops” have foot rests, making dining comfortable. Will definitely be back.
Old review: I want to love this place. It’s a kitschy restaurant/bar with tons of eye candy on the walls. You feel at home from the moment you walk in here, it looks really friendly. And you sit down at your table with a basket of salty popcorn. What’s not to love? However, we had dinner tonight, and maybe it’s a one off, but it was terrible. We ordered soup and dinner. The dinner came before the soup. I ordered fajitas, there were four small strips of chicken, the rest of the heap was half-done onions and peppers. The rice was hard and cold And was served on an ice cold plate. The French onion soup was unbearably salty, from a can, lukewarm, and the cheese on top was hardly melted. The waitress never came back, so we never had a refill on our pop or waters. There was a very large party at the other end of the restaurant, so I I understand that they may have been short staffed in the kitchen. It was pretty hard to love this place tonight. On the plus side, the bathrooms are Sparkly clean, and don’t forget to check out the statue of the...
Read moreSo yesterday, my wife and I visited this place for brunch. We live in the area and I ride past it a lot so we decided to go and have brunch there. We walk in and it feels like this isn’t a place that’s catered to minorities. We sit down, have our popcorn appetizer (which was very salty) and wait for the waitress. We order 2 ginger ale’s and water’s (no problem). It wasn’t until it was time to place our order it was a problem. My wife ordered a stir fry (in which you could have a choice of chicken or steak for the meat) my wife asked the waitress could she get both chicken and steak with her meal and the waitress very sharply answered NO. Now most places we’ve visited normally would upcharge you for two meats but the waitress knew for a fact that you couldn’t get both just one or the other. So when our food arrives, my wife asked the server if she wanted the dish again could she get both chicken and steak and the server answered YES. The waitress was in earshot of her conversation with the server and she sharply asked us “Is everything okay?” TWICE! We answered no and ate our food. We were so confused as to why the waitress said no but the server said yes (we all know the reason why). So a few minutes later the waitress comes to the table and says, I apologize for telling you that. I’ve worked here 16 YEARS and I’ve never heard that you could have that dish prepared that way. She had to do a lot of damage control because THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT and she should’ve fact checked with HER MANAGER before just outright telling a customer that they can’t prepare a dish in a way that suits the customer. It left a sour taste in both of our mouths and I will gladly take my money elsewhere. NEVER COMING BACK...
Read moreFrom the minute we stepped foot in this restaurant to the minute we left service was awful. It didn't seem like one staff member knew what the next staff member was doing. We had 3 different people take drink orders and when we finally got drinks they managed to mess up 3 waters and a pop(which tasted disgusting). Then our food order was finally taken after 30 minutes of waiting, there were 4 people in my party, one was an infant' so 3 meal orders were placed. About 35 minutes later one meal was brought out, another 15 minutes later another order was brought out, an hour later our 3rd meal was never brought out. After 2 of us were completely done eating the waitress finally came to ask if everything was ok, I told her that we never recieved our 3rd meal at which point she made a smart remark along the lines of "didn't hear the 3rd order" instead of apologizing. Like it really makes sense that at a table of 4 would only order 2 meals. She runs back and places the order which we wait another 20 minutes for, never comes. She runs back into kitchen and comes back with a practically charred on the outside raw on inside hamburger which went right into trash(mind you this was for a small child). No apologies or any attempts to try to make things right. The only reason we waited was because I had a hungry child crying due to being overhungry. This is right up there with. the worse dining experiences I've every had. My food actually tasted good but the service was horrific. Unless they do something about terrible service I'll never go back. I used to...
