Thai Tanic & -18 degrees F Tea House — Restaurant in Sterling Heights

Since moving back to Michigan in 2022, I hadn't had Thai food--until now. While living in NYC, I used to frequent a small, amazing Thai restaurant near my place once a week. So, when I was scrolling through DoorDash, I thought, "Why not give Thai Tanic a try?" And let me tell you--I do not regret it! The food instantly reminded me of that cozy Thai spot on East 26th Street in New York. Thai Tanic is now officially my go-to Thai restaurant.

I ordered takeout, but I couldn't help but notice how cute the restaurant's interior was, with its tropical greenery decor. The staff was also incredibly friendly. I placed my order ahead of time, and the estimated wait was spot-on--no extra delays.

I love a good Tom Yum soup, and this one did not disappoint. It had the perfect balance of acidity, wasn't overly spicy, and featured fresh vegetables. For dinner, I went with the Combination Meal (available only online) with Pork Fried Rice. The sides included Garlic Delight Tofu and Masaman Potato Curry with Mixed Veggies.

Each dish was packed with flavor! The Fried Rice wasn't greasy or overly buttery--just rich in taste. The Masaman Potato Curry was my absolute favorite; the coconut milk and curry consistency were spot-on, with no single ingredient overpowering the others.

I'll definitely be ordering from Thai Tanic again and highly recommend it to anyone in the area. You won't regret it! Next time, I'm getting the Masaman Potato Curry with a side of white rice--no...

My husband and I absolutely LOVE this place! We have been looking for authentic Thai food for a while so we were thrilled when we found this amazing establishment! I get the 3's a company dish with Bangkok street noodles and it never disappoints. The vegetables are fresh and have that satisfying crisp with each bite. The chicken, beef, and shrimp are tender and cooked to perfection and packed with the perfect amount of flavor and spice. Their portions are generous and they will meet your accomodations! I cannot eat eggs so it is nice and appreciated when they make sure to not add eggs to my order. Some places don't listen or care to listen to food accomodations but here you will be treated as a valued customer. I appreciate the people who work here so much because while there is craziness going on in the world they continue to hold on to their excellent customer service skills and take such pride into their work. I really wanted to love this place based on reviews I read but that just wasn't the case. Portions were huge but the food was extremely bland and simply wasn't good. It was a "C". I got basil fried rice with beef and barely had any beef or veggies in it. It was a huge rice pile. We were the only ones dining in but it was really slow getting our food. Waitress was very nice but we had to wait about 5 minutes for her to get to work to take our orders. Not a very good thing. Lastly, our meals were $15 each. So not even close to being worth it. I felt cheated..... we also witnessed waitress giving grubhub a HUGE order. Grubhub came back in a few minutes later and said "this isn't our order, this order says Door Dash". I thought it was disgusting that food that entered someone else's car wasn't thrown away. It just sat there as if nothing happened so when it gets picked up by the correct people, they won't have any idea that someone else had their food. Waitress didn't even seem bothered...
