Excellent place for soup, ice cream and beverages and their flexible offerings mean that they specialize in chilled treats and piping hot eats that fit any season, though let’s be clear, most of the year features at least part of the day that is chilly in Sterling and a good time for soups, coffees and teas.This eatery is located in the old Simkins grocery store that was long a landmark of historic downtown Sterling in days gone by for much of the 20th century and after the locale sat empty for many years, Simkins Parlour introduced this downtown to a new treasure of a place that many enjoy stopping in at. Almond milk latte is okay, and brewed coffee is weak and blah. This is on par for every coffee shop that I tried during a short stint in Sterling, so I would recommend this coffee shop as far as the town goes. If you like sweetened coffee or lattes, then you will probably be satisfied or even happy with the coffee. The shop is cute and the service is friendlier in the morning and day than in the night. You can read or work on laptops here and they serve food and pastries and their ever-popular ice cream selection. Went for lunch on a Monday...had grilled sandwich with chips and cabbage pocket with a cup of jalapeno corn chowder and iced tea (which is fresh brewed on sight😉). The grilled sandwich was heavenly ( definitely get the house cream cheese on it!) The pocket was made with scratch dough sourced locally as was the beef for the filling 😋. Chowder was quite tasty with nice spice and a light cream base, so good. Yum! Would love to come back and try other items.
