I like Perkins and their food, especially their pies and cakes. We visited this location because it is closer to where i live. We usually go to the Rapids location which is great btw. This location...not so much. Here's why: although the food is good, the service sucks! We came on Saturday noon and was a bit busy. The lady who greeted and sat us was a bit awkward. But we were thankful that we got seated right away. She asked us for drinks and was served with it right away. Our server then came after 5 minutes and took our order. I ordered soup with my entré and was served the soup right away. After that is the long waiting.
And so we sat and waited, and waited, and waited. Half an hour after i finished my soup and still nothing. My friend saw the servers chatting in the kitchen. I wanted to leave and just pay for the soup and drinks, but then our server came and told us our food is almost ready and said the cook was backed up that's why it took so long.
Another 10 minutes of waiting and finally our food arrived. It looked hurried and sloppy. My friend's food is semi-warm and not cooked as requested.
Comparing it to the Rapids location, this place lost by a mile. Our server in Rapids was all by herself serving serveral tables but she made sure we were taken cared of by asking us if there's anything we need while waiting for our food. In this Steven's Point location, there were a bunch of servers but they all are disappointing. Well, there was one who was kind enough to serve our pies and give us a to-go box. That's pretty much it. Even when paying we still waited. Our server abandoned us.
So if you plan on eating at Perkins, consider the Rapids location. It's definitely...
Read moreFood was terrible and the service was even worse. If you need anything during your meal, you need to get up and find your waitress back in the kitchen (I watched many customers do this over the course of our visit) as the waitresses only come out of the kitchen to bring food to tables. That is also the only time they realize there are people standing by the door waiting to be seated, even though there is a chime that sounds in the kitchen when the front door opens. I saw customers come in, wait by the "Please wait to be seated" sign and just walk out because nobody helped them. We were almost one of those customers (and now I wish I was) as we waited over five minutes just to be seated. I could understand to a point if it was busy but there were only 11 other people in the restaurant (a table of six, two tables of two, and a table of one) Apparently their conversations and gossiping in the back are more important than the customers they were hired to serve. The fries were undercooked, oily, and inedible. When this was mentioned to the waitress, she said, "Oh" and walked away. No offer for a fresh batch or anything. I doubt that the kitchen staff was even notified. They have a horrible, bitter cheese sauce that they seem to drizzle over all their food. Had to wait almost 20 minutes after we finished our meal just to get the check. The best part of the meal was the old, gooey, mint I found in the back of my glove compartment that got the horrible aftertaste of this terrible meal out of my mouth. If you are looking for a 24 hour diner, go to Southpoint. It is so worth the two and a...
Read morelet me start off by saying i worked here for a little over a year and is probably the most disgusting kitchen ive ever worked in. I had to break the bottom of the dish pit off with a screwdriver and hammer because it was moulded shut and nobody had ever cleaned it. the grout on the floor is completely gone between the tiles and replaced with grease and broken ceramic. when cleaning out the cold line i found expired portions being used from 4 months out of date. my manager at the time hired a man to use him as a scapegoat so he could steal boxes of meat before firing him. another manager would shoot staples at us through the window and in a few cases wound up in customers food. he came in on his day off to share pictures of what he did after ridiculing the other cooks for allowing it to happen. blaming us for his own actions. most of the sides you order are microwaved in a plastic bag. corn, mashed potatoes, any basic vegitable, every sauce, even some portions of meat which could easily be done on the grill. for the longest time our manager refused to replace the grease trap and would leak over much of the equipment. my agreed wage was $11 an hour at the time but i was barley making $9 before taxes and the computer system is so out of date they had no way to prove it. this was a problem for many of the other people working the line. i would recommend traveling out of your way to get food unless your a drunk student in which case stick to...
