My family and I dined here for dinner tonight and we were extremely disappointed. We knew that the restaurant has just recently opened so we went in with an open mind, as it can take a while for places to plant their feet in the ground. The wait was 45 minutes for three people which we were fine waiting for and gave us the idea that the food to come would be exceptional, which sadly was not the case. When we were seated we weren’t given waters which isn’t out of the ordinary but we noticed that every other table had cups of water along with their drinks of choice. We ordered three appetizers one at which came out promptly but was over cooked, the second one came out with one persons entree. We waited five minutes for the second appetizer and the third one didn’t come until we were almost finished with our meal. The crab rangoons were over cooked and had an extremely dark color, indicating the oil was too high of a temperature. All three of us ordered the phad Thai. Which caused confusion when they all came out with completely different consistencies and flavors. One was over cooked and had a burnt taste, the other seemed as if it lacked sauce completely and the third was drenched in sauce. We also ordered the coconut chicken for us to split and there was absolutely no flavor. We had to drench it in the spicy sauce that was already on the table to make is somewhat edible. The chicken was so intensely breaded it felt as if your mouth was coated in flour, the chicken itself was also dry and tough, also indicating that it was over cooked like most of the other dishes we had. We found it a bit confusing and concerning when the entrees were being served 15 minutes apart and we got our last appetizer, after we had finished dinner. We do have to say, that the steamed dumplings were really good and full of flavor. The staff was also really kind and attentive regardless of the fact that the restaurant was immensely busy. We know that it takes a while for a new business to acclimate but this far beyond that and the price of the food does not reflect the quality that was served to us tonight. We do hope that the restaurant manages to find their bearings because we do see potential but tonight was not at all the quality or experience we had...
Read moreWent here with family knowing it just opened; in fact, 2nd day. So, will give grace for logistical oddness.
Walked in and saw about 5 hostesses who asked us 3x about our party while they checked physically on table availability for people coming in. We waited maybe 15 but during that as patron came to the front saying it had been an hour and only 7/9 had their food.
We were sat by 2 hostesses for our party of 7 at a booth table situation that we couldn’t all sit at because there was no room in between the other table but luckily the other table left so we fit.
We ordered drinks without any drinks on the menu. I had to ask what they carry, Pepsi, and then I over heard they may not have diet products. They had no lemon for water and I was asked 3x what I wanted to drink, just water.
The staff took drink orders quickly then the waiter got our apps. Right after they handed us complimentary apps. We wish we had known so we didn’t have 4 plates of apps but we had leftovers. The waiter came back and got our food very abruptly but attentively. The apps came and one had a fire pot in which I had to ask how to use as food was cooked and asked to have it removed as table was tight with plates. The hostesses kept up with our drinks and food was brought out about 10 minutes later.
Everyone loved their food (except me; it was ok Thai and runny sauce) and the menu is gigantic with varying types of Asian food which is great for Stillwater. I ordered fried rice but it wasn’t fried. Brown white rice?! We ordered egg rolls, Thai and Chinese dishes and the firecracker sampler. Others loved their fried chicken dishes.
I must say they were very busy. The restaurant will do well but seems over staffed and not clear who’s doing what for which table etc. A hostess didn’t know if they even had high chairs.
The restaurant is decorated warm and inviting with a fun pink bathroom that needs somewhere to hang the toilet paper and a purse. I had to put toilet paper on the ground to use the trashcan. I assume that will be done as the construction trash is still in the parking lot in a bin. I recommend taking a jacket as we were freezing and I even saw a patron bring in a blanket.
I will be back with coworkers I’m sure so curious to...
Read moreWe came during dinner rush of opening week. It took just over a minute to find us a table, but for how busy they were, we were fine with such an insignificant wait.
Our server was attentive but didn’t know the menu particularly well. She had to go check if the pad Thai noodles were rice noodles or not, which we were fine with. They were able to accommodate a request for the pad Thai to be gluten free, which was nice.
Our rangoons arrived within 3-5 minutes of placing our order, with our entrees arriving shortly thereafter. Our soup appetizers somehow didn’t make it out until after our entrees, and weren’t particularly hot, but weren’t particularly cold either. Other than the soups, everything was extremely hot and fresh.
The flavor is almost identical to GD at its prime. Pricing is very similar too. Overall with the recent decrease in quality at GD, we will likely be coming here for Chinese meals in Stillwater. The menu is expansive, the decor is great, and overall this restaurant feels cleaner and just very well maintained since the recent renovations.
Portion sizes were a little small for dinner entrees, but overall they were still plenty filling. Just not enough for an entire lunch meal the next day with the leftovers.
Overall a solid pick that has a few small kinks to work out over the coming weeks, but a very promising new restaurant with...
