Our “go to” Chinese place for 60+ years … but, NEVER AGAIN!! Food was horrible; returned it for a refund. 🥲 They were out of the BBQ’d spare ribs (always a favorite!) by 5 p.m. The Almond Chicken consisted of bland noodles, with tiny, tasteless almonds (looked like peanuts) mixed in, with no chicken to be found. The Chow Mein was nothing but bland noodles and mushrooms. Gone are the days of the delicious pan fried noodles sitting on top of the steaming bean sprouts and BBQ’d pork! Sadly, the pan fried noodles are no longer offered. The batter on the fried shrimp was so thick, it was like eating a donut, with the tiniest of shrimp buried inside. The Broccoli Beef was tasteless, with limp broccoli and negligible pieces of beef. The only saving grace was the Chicken Wrapped in Tin Foil, which I did pay for when returning everything else for a refund. I’m honestly sad … The Chop Stick was always a shining star for Stockton. I do hope they can get their act together and once again serve the quality Chinese food that we have always looked forward to...
Read moreI've been going to this place off and on for the past 30 years. It was really really good back in the day. But I seen within the last maybe 5 years or so they acquired new owners. The food is still good but it isn't great if you know what real Chinese food tastes like. This place has always been a mainstay of the downtown public and surrounding area it seems like everything that was great has gone the way of many things. I must say that their soups are very good though when you have a cold or you feel like warming up your bones, what are the soups is very good to do the job. Also I noted that a long time ago the old owners used to sell cookies and soy sauce imported in from somewhere else the new owners do not do this. It lost that homely feel and now it just feels like another fast food joint...
Read moreOrdered dinner for two plus side order of green beans with beef. We live in north stockton closer to lodi but we had wanted to try Chopstick bc we always loved the food there. We hadn't been there in years so took the long ride to central stockton. We picked up the take out which was ready when I arrived. The hostess was friendly and quick. The food was priced reasonably. All the food was very dry, no flavor, the green bean were over cooked with slivers of beef that was also over cooked almost jerky. The prawns were mostly deep fried dough with a tiny shrimp. Had to wash it down with water, the left overs went into the garbage. Sad to say we will not be back it's just not the same. We do not recommend this place...
