When I tell you we were everybit of disappointed about the customer service it's a understatement! This was our first experience and we were too happy finally to find a place that plays reggae. I'll start with the good the dj was awesome he kept the whole place moving and played his hands off to kudos to him he's definitely they one that can keep anyone satisfied which is the only reason we stayed as long as we did! Thank you! The atmosphere was very chill they have a dance stage but there well enough space between the tabkes to dance were you are big plus for us. Now from the gate when we entered as I said our first time the greeter girl was unattentive except to her phone that is so we stood there for a good bit untill i had to ask her do we seat ourselves she finally said no I'll get "someone" she grabbed a girl and she brought us to a table and walked smooth off! No smiles no can I start you off just walked away. We are usually very patient so we kind of assumed she would be back nope! So after about 20min we flagged another girl she looked directly at us and ignored us. Flagged another girl told her we have been waiting she said she would find someone and never came back flagged yet another and finally we asked her if she could grab us a hookah she was hesitant at first but then said ok. Once she returned she asked if I could pay for it I was like sure but can we order 2 Bob Marleys she said I don't know what that is I'm new....... I told her the menu app wasn't working and we wanted to order some food she told us she wouldn't be able to serve us because she was busy she would "find" someone NEVER CAME BACK NO ONE we flagged yet another girl told her it had been a total of 30+min by then and we haven't been served she said I suggest you sit at the bar if you want service........ mind you we had got a table because we were expecting more guest at this point we were ready to leave and mind you the couple next to us hadn't gotten service either they actually left and so did another set of friends we seen just seated as we were. We ended up having to leave our hookah unattended to grab drinks from the bar which isn't something we like doing but being it was our first time we stayed together. If we weren't expecting guest we would had been left oh and if that dj wasn't spinning his hands off! After our drinks still couldn't get anyone to serve us and we came for the food! We told our friends not to even bother and eventually left and went to waffle house. The thing is when people drive all the way to a place not everyone wants to be disappointed and leave so we "settled" to stay the amount of time we did. Watching so many people literally come in and walk out was discouraging at most. I want to try again but I don't know it's wild how employees can kill a whole rep for a place but it's true. We value our outings and we love having a great time but customer service is a most!! They didn't even try I know funky attitudes when I see them or the type like well they not in my section so I'm not going to seal with them or even worst the ones who know they can get away with bad service and just don't care. Yall let alot of potential walk out the door Saturday night and they walked smooth over to the other...
Read moreSpice House is going backwards business wise. Party of 9 for a birthday and we came for brunch. Upon entering the establishment at 2pm; there were only 1 table occupied and maybe 1-2 guest at the bar. Which was a little off for them; usually when we do visit, they’re busy. Upon sitting down; we ordered the bottomless mimosas which is advertised on their menu but the waiter told us the table-side mimosa would be better for our table. We ordered that and the waiter brought out glasses that still had orange juice pulp stuck to the inside and lipstick stains on the glass. The waiter asked us would we like to get new glasses as if he assumed we would be okay with the dirty dish ware. We ordered appetizers and that alone took 45mins to an hour to be brought out to us. Mind you; it’s just our party and that 1 table of maybe a 6 top that was dining in and the 2 people at the bar. When the appetizers did arrive, the oxtail egg rolls barely had any meat in them, the seafood dip wasn’t hot, it was barely warm like it has been sitting out and the wontons that were served with it were extremely salty. At this point we’re asking for another round of mimosas where we were then told that the table side mimosa included only 1 bottle of champagne and unlimited juice to go with the champagne…the 1 bottle of champagne was suppose to be enough for 9 people and this was suppose to be better than doing the bottomless mimosas? On top of that 1 guest in my party ordered chicken and waffles with jerk chicken, after placing the order; the waiter comes back to the table to explain that they didn’t have jerk chicken available, the person in my party told the waiter multiple times to cancel the order as thats what they were coming there for, only for the waiter to still bring out the chicken and waffles and the jerk chicken was available … the shrimp and grits didn’t come with sausage like how it was advertised on the menu, another person in my party got fried chicken with their chicken and waffles and the fried chicken wasn’t seasoned at all, their whole dish was bland. The birthday girl never got her entree and another person in my party waited over an hour for the seafood dip which they ordered as their entree. This definitely was the worst experience ever from spice house and overall terrible for the birthday girl. The manager on shift did her very best to make the matter better which is the only reason why I'm giving it 1 star; but I do feel bad for her as she’s only been working there 2 weeks along with the kitchen staff and waiter. Otherwise I wouldn't recommend this location...
Read moreTwo days later... after I wrote the below it occurred to me what was really irritating me. The plastic cutlery. How does a restaurant serve mid food and have the audacity to charge $50 a plate to eat with plastic forks? See photo attached. Alas, this is Atlanta 🤦🏾♂️.
Original post below:
Growing up in South Florida eating my body weight in Donna's and the Jerk Machine as well as eateries around Miami I'd say I have a good cannon of knowledge when it comes to Jamaican food, especially oxtails.
With that in mind, don't order the oxtails. Just don't. I can't even expound on the disappointment without tearing up. What a waste of calories. Yes, I get it. Spice isn't a Jamaican restaurant. You can tell by the complete lack of bread fruit and/or plantains when oxtails are on the menu. But either way save yourself. Yes they're edible. But just barely.
The Mac & Cheese... 2 out 5. Right look. Wrong texture, flavor and consistency. 🫤
The garlic/paremesean wings were okay. Once you got past guessing what they were supposed to be.
The oxtails egg rolls were 4/5, mainly due to the sauce. So really I should say the oxtails egg role sauce is 4 out of 5, the oxtails themselves where 2.8 outta 5.
Lastly the bill. $227 for 4 people, no liquor drinks.
18% automatic gratuity on a part of 4 with mid service. I did tip another $8 cause I knew I'd never be back and she was going to need it. Real moral is this restaurant won't last long. Cause for $227 I want at least solid 4 Star food with real forks.
Also, the bathroom had no baby changing station and the floor is so slippery as to be an entire slip hazard. Lastly, the transition from the main floor to the bathroom floor is about 1/2 an inch, which seems like a trip hazard in and of itself. But that's really a commentary on the food. As it was so mid I remember an Osha violation from the bathroom. I want my...
