My recent visit to Local 438 was deeply concerning and fell far short of my expectations. While I had hoped for a pleasant evening, the atmosphere and management of the establishment created a truly negative experience.
The most significant issue was the staff's apparent disregard for patron safety. I observed multiple instances of individuals being over-served alcohol, to the point of visible impairment. This not only puts those patrons at risk but also creates an uncomfortable and potentially dangerous environment for everyone else.
Furthermore, it was alarming to see the lack of intervention when certain patrons were behaving inappropriately and harassing others. When a restaurant fails to address such behavior, it sends a clear message that it is tolerated, which is unacceptable and compromises the safety and comfort of its guests. The overall feeling was that the staff treated patrons with a certain level of dismissiveness, rather than with the respect and attentiveness one would expect.
While I understand that restaurants can have off nights, the issues I witnessed seem to be a matter of policy and training rather than a one-time oversight. I sincerely hope that management takes these serious concerns into consideration and implements changes to ensure the well-being and respectful treatment of all...
Read moreEdit, one week after initial review below: Since we enjoyed this place, we decided to take my mother in law here for her birthday. My husband called ahead (since they don't take reservations) and the manager told him at noon they'd be "probably" able to accommodate a party of 13, but he had to call back around 6 since we were looking to go in at 7. So, again my husband called at 6 and spoke with a younger hostess who took note of the party and said they'd work it out to have the tables ready. All 13 of us show up at 10 of 7 and the hostess said she only recorded it was a party of 5. I don't understand how you make 5 out of 13, but we knew they weren't going to make it work. On a Saturday night at 7 we were all forced to find another place. Just be weary that although the food is good, they cannot accommodate larger parties and be organized.
Visited this restaurant with my husband, parents, and siblings. All 6 of us loved the food, it's amazing comfort food. We tried the buffalo mac and cheese, the ribs, a burger, onion soup, fried pickles, pretzel, and nachos. If you're in the Stoneham area, this place is definitely worth your time and money. Although it's not very spacious inside, the ambiance is welcoming and they have TV's everywhere, which is awesome during...
Read moreThe service is slow and she never checked back to see if food was good, took forever to get us our check. I ordered steak med got it rare, had to find a waitress to tell them to cook more it came back med rare. Not to mention the steak was so tuff I was having a hard time cutting it with a steak knife. I sent it back and choose not to get another dinner as the time it took for this whole process was far too long as it was. I also forgot to mention I ordered a drink with diet cook and got a drink with root beer in it. When I questioned the waitress , she said she didn't know why then I said it taste like maybe dr pepper , she said oh someone put the root beer in the diet coke , and that she can't do anything about that. It's called clean out the lines as your drinks taste like RB and your not giving your customers what they ordered.
Lastly after I sent back my steak I waiter another 15 min and we had to find the waitress to eat out check. No manager came over nothing. Waitress didn't even say thank you or apologize as she gave me back my charge card. As if the fact my meal wasn't cooked as it should is my issue. Needless to say we will never be back and this food is gross and...
