Chix Restaurant — Restaurant in Streator

We decided to try Chix as it was nearby, had a decent reputation and delivers. I ordered three meals, two combos and a rack of ribs and was told delivery would take roughly 30 minutes. An hour and 20 minutes later we still hadn't gotten food or even a phone call. I called back and was given the excuse that they were "busy" and the food would be delivered "soon".

Ten minutes after my call and an hour and a half after we ordered, food finally showed up. Delivered in cheap plastic bags, nothing labeled, no napkins, salt & pepper packets, paper plates or plastic flatware. The food (unsurprisingly) was cold, the fries soggy, and the boneless wings sitting in a disgusting pool of oil.

There was no flavor on the wings to speak of, and a tiny amount of coleslaw. If I could give zero stars I would. In the time it took to get this cold, unappetizing flavorless food I could have driven across town, ordered and eaten dinner at another restaurant and driven back. Complete waste of...

We were visiting friends in Streator, and they took us here for lunch. We were greeted by one of the servers with a big smile and a friendly hello. The food was delicious! The fried chicken is cooked to perfection and is so juicy. It was the best chicken sandwich I've ever had. The crispy coating makes this sandwich. Served on a toasted bun, really good fries come with the sandwich but I ordered the onion rings. They were delicious and my husband loved his chicken sandwich, he said it was the biggest piece of chicken he's ever been served. Our server Gracey was delightful. She couldn't have been any nicer. Chix is a Streator landmark, overpriced wings and usual American diner foods can be found at a middle-class pricing, albeit, they do have some of my favorite pickle fries served with a tzatziki sauce that are most certainly dank.

They offer a decent variety with a menu that never really seems to change but has plenty of solid options, their chicken choices of chicken sandwiches and burgers alone are varied and all are worth the price. Oh, and if ya like a hard drink with your meal, they have a ton of booze.

There are lots of options in Streator, lots of hidden gems and places to stop if you've never tried them before, Chix happens to get alot of traffic due to being right on Rt.23. Not a bad place to eat, but, continue following me on our journey...
