I am not one to write reviews, but I had to about this place. We went on a Saturday night and it was dead. They don't do hibachi any longer but still sit you around hibachi tables..?... They definitely don't clean the hibachi tables anymore either... there was a film / haze on them and some looked rusty. The atmosphere was dark and dingy. A lot of the employees huddled around a TV to watch "Back to the Future" - riveting. An employees child was playing on a knee scooter in the bar (the type of scooter you get after having foot or leg surgery) - a definite safety concern and definitely a code violation. The bathrooms were disgusting, several stalls out of order and according to the employees kid "have been that way for 5 years or more".
Almost all in the party ordered a hibachi dinner that they make in the back, but it tasted like it was made yesterday. Overcooked shrimp and chicken (very dry). Rice was hard, and the food was cold. Those who got the Sushi said it was good, I do not eat Sushi so I cannot comment on it, but seems like it's the 1 thing this place has going for it. Server was new but ok, as expected since the pandemic - not great service and slow. Also the floor was so sticky it's like they mop it with popsicles. After leaving it felt like I needed to shower it was so dirty and dingy in the place. Do yourself a favor and...
Read moreI was curious to try their all you can eat sushi lunch buffet. Unfortunately I couldn’t be more disappointed. First issue is the menus has no descriptions. So you have no idea what these rolls are or what you’re getting. Contrast that with Kintaro’s AYCE menu which has descriptions on nearly everything. This problem is worsened because you’ll be charged for waste. But what if you don’t like what you got? After all you never know what you’re going to get. I tried to ask the waitress what the options were but unfortunately I couldn’t understand probably 95% of what she was saying, no offense to her. So this problem was worsened. The rolls I did end up getting were bland and uninteresting. I was very disappointed, unfortunate as I normally love sushi. Also bonus points, when you go on their website you’re greeted with fake AI generated photos of “food”. They should just take pictures of their actual sushi rolls instead of posting this AI generated pics. My recommendation is to spend the extra few dollars and go to Kintaro instead. At least you know what you’re getting there, and their rolls have...
Read moreStopped in for dinner Friday night around 6:30. Was fairly busy for dinner rush, so wasn’t surprised when told it’d be a 30 minute wait. Our wait exceeded 30 minutes while a family of 4 and single that both arrived after us were seated before us, a party of 2. After about an hour wait we sat down at 7:30 and the restaurant was beginning to slow down. The hostess provided us menus and water, and then we waited. Over half an hour without being attended to at our table after our hour wait, as I watched the individual and family of 4 wrap up their meals. I had made eye contact with multiple servers while we waited in our seats, and after not being addressed we decided to walk out. As we left the restaurant 3 hostesses up front watched us head for the exit without questioning. I have had good meals here in the past and was greatly frustrated by the lack of customer care. I wasn’t going to make a scene to flag down a waiter begging for a $30 per person meal, so we left. Next time we want to give Toko a shot we’ll be going to the Kent location, as it seems Streetsboro’s doesn’t care to have...
