Yesterday I placed an order online on their website. One of the items I ordered was the lasagna. I also placed it for delivery. Now after I placed my order I received a Facebook message asking if I ordered today, which was weird.. why wouldn't they call me to verify? I answered yes and asked if everything was ok with my order. After getting no response back and waiting an hour for my food, I called them. They proceeded to tell me that "first of all we have no delivery drivers today. Second of all we no longer have lasagna. And third of all there's no delivery address on your order." Ok.. first of all I chose delivery because I had a sick kid at home, but I would have picked up if needed. Second of all why do you have it on your menu available to order then if you no longer serve it? And third of all yes there was. It's on my receipt. I said fine can you just cancel my order and refund me? She tries and says the computer isn't letting her refund it. So she will have to call the owner and call me back. Ok. I wait. And wait. After an hour I hear nothing back. I call again. The woman on the phone says the original person I spoke to will call me back in 5 minutes. Ok... another hour goes by and nothing. By this time it's around 730, I've heard nothing, and my kid is starving. I end up ordering something else. And I decide to wait until the next day, today. I call this morning and explain my situation. She says I'll call the supervisor and he will call you within 45 minutes... more waiting.. after 2 hours no one calls me. I call for 4th time to resolve this and get my $81 back. She again tells me that the supervisor is out delivering an order and he will call me. I tell her I've been calling since yesterday and no one is calling me back or trying to resolve this. I feel like they are giving me the runaround. She says I'm sorry I'm not even in the facility and I can't do anything else for you. After work I drive there and speak to someone telling them I'm frustrated because I spent $81 and got no food and no one is helping me. I just want my money back. He apologizes and gives me cash. So I did get my money back but the service, or lack of service, was awful and I will never order here again. We started to notice we didn’t have our food yet but still decided to wait and not say anything. All the people after us got their food before us. Our waitress then approached us and even said our food was taking long. So then we waited longer and we asked if she knew how much longer and all she could say was, “I don’t know.” She could have instead went to the back of the kitchen and asked but she didn’t. Both bartenders looked the other way, couldn’t apologize for the wait or anything. They gave us 3 free drinks but we had to wait another 10 minutes for those drinks!! They blamed the people, being short staffed and it being busy but how does other people get their food before us then? How can they promote their business for a huge fight and not be prepared? This wasn’t their first live sporting event and it wasn’t their first Friday. We honestly think the girl forgot to put our order in. We could have been more understanding if someone could have been like, “hey, we’re sorry for the wait.” We finally got our food, besides one person. They told my boyfriend it would be another 10 minutes, after my girlfriend and I already got our wings. At that point, he didn’t want the pizza anymore because we wouldn’t have ate together. Read moreUPDATE! Maybe the manager was just having a bad day that day. We have been back to Tangiers and will continue to return many times. They corrected the error and apologized. This is a GREAT place, anyone can have a bad day. it is definitely not a reflection on this long-standing business.
Beware... the pizza comes with peppers and they will not make any exceptions nor will they correct or acknowledge their errors. The condescending manager enthusiastically told us they have made pizza with peppers since 1951. I guess we were supposed to know that but it certainly isn't written on the menu.
The first time we ordered a pizza, it came with peppers. We accepted the blame for that one.
We ordered a second time explicitly requesting no peppers on the pizza. We got the pizza home... it had peppers. I called them and told them, they took down our name and "put it on the board." (I believe this to be a fictitious board because they had no record of the error or the phone call only 2 weeks later)
We went to Tangier today and told the very helpful waitress what happened. She was accommodating and kind. The manager, however, was arrogant, argumentative and confrontational. He told us that he would not replace the pizza since it just came with peppers. It has always been that way since 1951 (he told us that quite loudly) and then accused us of trying to get a free pizza.
Honestly, I expect more from a "mom & pop" place like Tangier. I do hope the owner sees this and sends the manager back to remedial customer...
